  sitting at home on a friday night - browsing through all the jw groups on facebook and this catches my eye.... we help support our full-time ministry with this website.

  Oompa, good question about those J versions being in KHs. I bet 10 in 11 don't have them. I doubt they could read them even if they did have copies.
  
  Some "J versions" say "Jehovah is Jesus" but the Society was selective in which passages they used.

  Found this in the April 1, 1993 Watchtower where the author failed to use the brackets around the word "other" when citing Colossians:
  
  Colossians 1:16 says that "by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and upon the earth." (page 11, article: "Follow the Light of the World") - available on the 2006 CDROM.

  sacolton, when I said "old doctrine" I meant that it's been around for a very long time - not in the sense of "old light." I should have clarified that in my post.
  
  Some within the "faithful and discreet slave" among the WT, since the release of the New World Translation, often used 1 Cor. 10:4 passage to "prove" that they were the mediator for the "great crowd":
  
  "For they used to drink from the spiritual rock-mass that followed them, and that rock-mass meant the Christ."
  
  This is a corrupt translation for 1 Corinthians 10:4. By using the phrase "rock-mass" instead of "rock" (the Greek is "petros" - simply, "rock"), they are able to say that it's a body of individuals and not simply one individual. The words "rock-mass" and "meant" don't belong in the text but serves (or used to) as a "proof text" of their belief that they are "The Christ" mediator.

  birthdays in new release WT pub

  a subtle difference in the new book....it says something like "the bible reports negatively on birthdays- especially in the case of john the baptist...".

  they are subtly admitting that the gen account does not strongly put b-days in a bad light and choose to focus on john the baptist.

  obviously if they paid attention to the man spared and the results of that the gen 40:20 account would be positive.. yet they also now added the comments attributing birthdays to satanism..... .

  This is a far cry from what the Society used to teach. In comments on Colossians 2:16....
  
  "All who are in Christ have liberty with respect to the festivals, new moons and sabbaths of the Law."
  
  "If anyone presumes to judge another in these matters, he is violating a direct command of the Lord."
  
  "We are to appreciate and guard our liberty in Christ."
