I think prayer is a learned skill some people can never find the quiet space inside themselves where God can finally be heared or at least felt. If people spent more time trying to reach God and less time trying to please God maybe they we be maybe just a little happier and able to cope with those bad days just a little bit better.

A CHALLENGE TO JWs REGARDING PRAYER
by journey-on inwhen i read posts like the one today regarding the pregnant young lady whose pioneer mother has told her not to get in contact till shes reinstated, i am sickened and saddened.. mothers and other family members who think that that directive is from god or christ are so far off the mark, its unbelievable.
that directive was issued from men, a group of elderly self-proclaimed channels of gods holy spirit out of new york.
it boggles the mind to think that otherwise intelligent people will buy into this sort of thinking and that they would desire to believe in something so desperately that they would forsake their own children and grandchildren for such an ideology.

Is merely believing he lived enough ? Is believing the story enough ? Is seeking enlightenment enough?Jesus said he was the word and the light what does that mean? Was he supposed to show us what were capable of? And another question, since he said obedience was what God wanted and not sacrifice or more accurately that obedience was more important than sacrifice why do people sacrifice so much time and effort when God says that all we value is basicaly rags and refuse compared to what he truly values. Just some thinds floating in my head I would like some feedback on

I have always had a problem accepting the fact that we are all accidents and I have also had a problem accepting the fact that we are the product of divine creation . Because someone says God made us or someone says we are a by product of a chemical spill doesnt really matter> I dont understand why people argue a moot point> what matters is the fact that we are here and we wonder why ,,,,,,Well I guess it might not be moot to everyone .. You know ,,,,it seems like all I do is wonder why we are here . People that have the truth in their pocket have always scared me I agree the significance of this image is equal to the significance of a tree that has fallen over in the woods or a solar flare or a meteor impact crater or the birth of a child or the questions we all have in our head about why we must lead such an unsatisfactory exsistence when we are certainly capable of so much more than we are ..sorry some times I ramble

I had never really studied the Bible untill I was approched by the JWs and considering how influential that particular piece of literature is I prolly should have cracked it open sooner . It piqued my curiosity and then I ended up here. So yeah , maybe a tiny portion of what they are is not concentrated poison but they have a dangerous line of reasoning that is like crack for a needy person .

If you are estranged now why would it be different when you are doing what they want? We can support and love you if you do what we want? Real love< the kind talked about by (ahem) JESUS doesnt need conditions to operate .
