an unidentified man shot another man at a kingdom hall in oregon.
Many times while being a part of a JC when I was an elder I would think about the accused wigging out and coming into the elders conference room with a gun or knife or something else to do us harm.

for those of us lucky enough to have shed our rose-colored glasses, but still want to maintain relationwhipes with family and friends still entangled in the borg's web, a pragmatic approach, akin to, but less radical than "fading": just slip out to the periphery, treat the kh as one would a church, i. e. show up once in a while, make the occasional comment (ideally without compromising your real convictions and, better yet, worded as to provoke a bit of thought without raising eyebrows); being politely but non-commital, and, after a few "so longs," go home after the closing prayer.
.
Tried going to a meeting once, after the blinders were lifted. It was too painful I couldn't do it again. My tongue would have scares all over it if I had to go to those things.

I believe as time goes on, there are going to be increased incidents like this. Many families have been torn apart by this religion and because of the pressures people crack. A perfect storm, more families divided, more pressures, more people cracking. People are not safe in kingdom halls.

come on, be straight...no one is here to jump on you.
are you a exjw?
a former student never baptized?
I think the MadJW is an active witness who is mad at the way things are run in the WT but realizes that it is run by imperfect people and is not afraid to lampoon all the stupid things that the WT says and does but MJW does believe that the basic teachings and bible stuff the WT teaches is correct. I think the MadJW is reacting like JC did when he lampooned the Jewish religion for all the ridiculous laws they burdened the people with.
What the MadJW does not realize is that the WTS will NEVER change. In fact they will get worse because all of mankinds organizations get less ethical as they get bigger and more powerful.
The madjw is mad because he/she has been wasting their entire life in an organization that is unethical, immoral, and pharasaic in nature.
Why is the MadJW here on this APOSTATE forum? That I don't know but we are happy they are here.

41 years and I've got to be way ahead on apologies. Of course my wife would tell me that it's because I do more things that are wrong. I'm sorry but I think she is wrong as much as me or, I'm sorry to say she may be wrong even more times then me.
Hey I just realized I (apologised) UK spelling, twice in this post chalk up two more for me.

given that the god of the old testament & the new testament don't seem to match up, and our first impression of god may be based on our parents, and the many progressive christian religions that stress god's love and grace, we probably all have completely different ideas of who god is; if he/she does exist.
i always thought god was a strict, bad-tempered kill-joy..
God is love. That love is in each one of us. It starts out as a seed and depending on how we've been raised and treated that seed grows and whatever that seed becomes inside of us, it displays the love that has grown from tha god seed.
A good example of that seed growing is Mary, J's mom. Her god seed grew into a person named Jesus who displayed love perfectly.
What this means in projecting my concept of God further is any woman can have a god seed that grows into a loving and powerful person.
PS, My god seed was stunted for 28 years because some old men in New York City took over the care of that seed that I should have been doing on my own. Now it's growing again.
Does this make sense?

is the governing body haunted by the thought that jehovah is telling them no and shut down?.
rutherford is reported to have sought cash and rationed coal as a test of jehovah's will.
knorr reported on getting an unexpected windfall of cash when they sought to buy the towers hotel.. but from where i sit, jehovah seems to have become very ungenerous towards these would-be theocrats, in recent years.. they dumped subscriptions.. they cut literature.. they went to paperbacks.. they cut magazines, by my count, for the third time.. they laid off bethelites.. they sold off brooklyn buildings.. they sold off printing/binding equipment.. so, now their latest 'litmus test' of jehovah's will is to simply dump the magazines in one lump and tell people to only take what they need.
Is Jehovah Telling the Governing Body to Shut Down?
If there is a Jehovah and he, she, it is telling the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses to shut down, why would they listen to him now?
1. They didn't listen when it told them, people were dying unnecessarily because of thier interpretation on blood.
2. They didn't listen when it told them to uncover all pediphilia in their ranks.
3. They didn't listen when it told them they were destroying families because of their shunning policies.
4. They didn't listen when it told them they would be much more effective if they started spending their time helping people instead of bothering them at their door.
I hope that I am still alive to see it when they do their final shutdown.
what do you say to people outside the religion that say jehovah witnesses are the only true christians and they are the only group that follow the bible as opposed to other reilgions?
i see these comments on youtube about videos that addressed the issue with the policy jws follow today.
i am not bitter but i thought if you think that jehovah witnesses are true christians and follow the bible, why not join the group?
It's a CULT.
If you try to get out you are punished with social ostracisim. For some that's not so bad but for many of us some of our family are still in and it would make things difficult for them and us. It is a punishment.
The religion also does not let people think independent thoughts it uses mind control to demonize independent thinking. Many members supress thoughts that go against the teachings of the Watchtower Society.
I could go on and on but as a noobie, you will have a chance to read many good points from this forum.
Good luck in your search

...is when people ask why i wasn't there.
usually i tell them, that i was sick, or not feeling well, which for the most part is true.
what is irritating is when someone presses it, especially someone you are closer with in the congregation.
At this time I don't wish to discuss that with you. Perhaps another time.
