one thing i really hate.
the wbts basically says that if your child does not grow up a productive members of jehovah's witnesses, in spite of everything else they may be capable of achieving, you fail as a parent.
this bothers me.
This is an interesting topic. Sad to say many parents have grown children who have become succesful in the "world" and these JW parents are embarrased about this. One example I know of is a black woman whose only child a son ended up going to college and is now a principle in a school and a good family man and she is upset because in her words, "he never did anything in the troof"
So sad that these people can't even feel proud of their children.

i helped for 3 weeks helping convert 360 furman to bethel purposes back in the late 80s... 7th and 8th floors... new laundry, carpentry shops, etc... i know that the sale of furman has been posted here before, but has anyone posted the link to what is there now?

so i had a great tuesday evening- listened to live jazz sitting in a park by the (large water body near my house).
had a bit of pino grigio.
watched the kid play on the playground.
I now have time to do nice things for people while not badgering them on Saturday mornings at their door. It's wonderful to talk to people without trying to think of a way to turn it into a preaching session. Sometimes my wife and I wake up in the morning and just say WOW what a great life.

my oldest daughter (who is currently up in ct) just called to tell me my stepmother (wicked witch of the west) was in an accident yesterday evening.
she was riding a moped and crashed it into a parked car (don't ask me what an overweight 53 year old woman with bad knees is doing on a moped but whatever...supposed to save on the cost of gas or something).
anyway...she shattered her right leg and wrist in the accident (her good walking side) and apparently will never be the same.
Being kind is always the best thing to do. Don't go broke doing it though just do what you can afford to be kind. Give her a call, send a card thank her for the nice things she has done for you give her love.

i joined a few days ago thinking "hey, maybe i will find people that i have something in common with!

i am reading experiences and doctrine and suddenly getting very angry and confused.
You are lucky you got out early many of us wasted most of our adult lives in it, raised children in it, who may be still stuck in it. So you can relish in the thought that you have your whole life to live with out someoned else telling you what right and what's wrong enjoy it and make it count.

but thank god because at least she won't have to be destroyed at armeggedon because she is not a jehovah's witness.
she was a catholic all her life and is very devoted to her god and jesus she is 85 and smoked up until 1981 so her death won't be the most pleasent but hospice is doing a wonderful job at making her last few months comfortable.
i'm so glad i don't buy into all the crap the watchtower bible and tract society teaches.
Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. It's nice to have an understanding community to communicate with and to share with.
On a side note, I was talking to an elder yesterday and he expressed his sorrow at my Mother's illness and I told him not to be sorry that it was a good thing because she would have been destroyed by Jehovah anyway because she had no intention of ever becoming a Jehovah's Witness and at least now she would be resurected.
You should have seen the look on his face. I wish I could have read his mind at that moment he just nodded his head in aggrement and said nothing it was a moment I will cherish.

I'm so glad I don't buy into all the crap the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society teaches. I would have been so upset at seeing the Hospice clergy man that came to visit her today. He is Episcapalien and was very nice I love being open minded again it makes this process I'm going through so much easier. I told her that if she does go to a better place to say hello to my Dad for me. She said she would.
