GOVERNING BODY and Child Labor Laws
by revelationsrbeginin7871gs ini have done just a bit of research, but it seems as though, as children we were only supposed to go out in service for 10 hours a month.
regardless of the watchtower being non-profit, or not for profit, children could only represent the organization for 10 hours!!!
does anyone have more information or details on this matter?.

Question for witnesses who were married or intimate during their time in the religion
by kurtbethel ini don't want to get graphic with this and get this thread locked, so please don't go overboard with answers.. i was having a discussion with someone about the jw experience, and was wondering if, since "jehovah" is an important part of the religion, during the moments of intense passion in a relationship, would you yell out, "oh, jehovah!
oh, jehovah!".
seriously, would a witness do that?.

No it would be "Oh, Governing Body! Governing Body!" - it was there. had to say it.

Holiday field circus: From both sides of the door
by WTWizard inhere is what it is like to those on the inside of the door:.
the children got up about an hour earlier than normal.
obviously, they are anxious to start opening up the presents under the tree (and most children are not going to want to sleep in on christmas morning).

I don't recall ever going out on Christmas or major holidays witlessing. Personally, I think it's tacky to disturb people when they are spending time with their families during holidays. As a kid, my parents/grandparents would give the kids wrapped presants to celebrate their wedding anniversaries. It was usually a big deal, dressing up, the good china out, etc. Elementary/Middle/High School graduations resulted in wrapped gifts as well. We got things from our parents, but not generally wrapped. Being on the other side of the door, was in the middle of making Turkey Day dinner and the door bell rang; thinking it was family opened the door to the Witlesses. I'm sure they loved the cooking aroma wafting out the door. I'm just happy nothing burned while I was away from the stove. :D

what was the worst advice given to you while you were a JW ?
by wasblind inmine's was, if your job interfere with the meetings you have to decide who you will choose,.
serving jehovah or serving man, if anyone knew my needs it most definitely was jehovah.
and he knew i needed my job to eat.

Quitting regular pioneering? Didn't you get a new car recently? You should put god's things first. - This coming from the elder with the new Lexus. And my "new "car, 4 years old, well within my means. Asshat. :)

So glad I don't have to go anymore. Funny that I don't remember any of the topics, speakers, themes, etc. after going for all those years. Just remember the fun getting out and away from having to sleep pay attention.

"traditionally when a Brother or Sister travels abroad they carry a letter of introduction and good standing. Visiting Kingdom Halls is regularly scheduled by your Elders via the visiting Branch office."
Now that was funny....
Wondering how he will understand an English meeting when he speaks Italian and is using a translator website for this?

I really don't see the issue with JW baptism. Personally I think it's better than how other religions do it.
You could have been a baby being baptised into the church. Then when you were 10 went through classes became confirmed ands start partaking communion because mom n dad wanted you to. How is that any different?

Do you regret confessing your sins to the elders?
by asilentone inyes, i do!
i did it 20 years ago, but the elders still remember what i did, sometimes i wish they never knew about it.

My sins? Never confessed that! I did rat someone out because they were using me to be their alibi. Wish I hadn't. Oh well.

Elders and texting
by Iwonder17 innot sure if this was caught on in your cong or not, but now our service overseers text everyone in their group for their field service time.. now i understand that texting and email are good tools, i use them everyday.
but how impersonal can you be.
espicially when it comes to "life saving work".

Interesting. Could they use that for a judical meeting? Or the 2nd witness? Count your time witlessing via Text! Can you imagine teh time you could collect if you are a slow texter!?!?! Oh how the possiblities are endless!!!
