i thought it would be interesting to see just how many people have climbed aboard jwd within the last 6 months.

it will give us an indication on how many people are actually coming away from the borg.. i may not be replying all the time but will pop in every day of so.. lets keep this thread going and use it to welcome new ones.

raising kids without a religion - thoughts, advice?

ok, thinking about taking the leap and starting a family.

i've held back for years because of this subject.

almost entire family are jw's, but my husband and i haven't been for many years and have no desire to raise children as one, or any other organized religion.

My wife and I are facing this same issue. I just ordered the book Parenting Beyond Belief because somone recommended it about a month ago. I'm a bit further "out" than she is. She's concerned that the children can't be taught morals without some sort of religion. I'm hoping the book helps.

If you could get a Bible Study to visit ONE WEBSITE....

ok, so right on the cusp of my awakening, i had a sorta-bible study with the man who had almost died in a nasty car wreak .

(he was saved by a like a gallon of tranfused blood, btw).

when i stopped going out in service, the study was taken over by a rather dimwitted witness on conservative side .

Are the Halls stepping up the message??

recently my jw mother has been acting strange.

she's saying things like, she feels like she doesn't "know" her children anymore (as if she ever did), and that she knows we all talk about her behind her back and mock her religion.

then she'll say that she has the "friends" and that's all she needs.. is the society turning up the armegeddon's almost here and cut off your non-believing relatives now 'cause they won't make it into the new system thing?

Sounds like the same old thing for as long as I can remember. I wrote off my family in about 1980 because Jehovah was about to kill them "any day now".

I havent told my wife about this site yet. I know I should. But although we havent been to meeting in over 2 months, she doesn't really seem to want to talk about it. She knows I'm reading CoC, but didn't even bring that up. I'm letting her bring up the subject, I'm not trying to push her.

It's got to be harder being the wife of a JW though with the whole headship thing.

Hang in there. Change the subject. Watch a funny movie. Come back to it again another day.
