If you doubt the authenticity of the letter - why not ask your local body of elders if they've received such a letter? Everyone is equal in the organization right? There are no "secret" procedures... right? Should be easy to confirm. Don't forget to mention where you saw it.
Thanks for posting this. My father is an elder who secretly associates with his DF daughter and faded apostate son (me). They tell us both regularly that if we're ever in hard times, we're always welcome to live with them. It's good to know what sort of pressure he's getting in his elders meetings. Recently he's been very down, even having suicidal thoughts. It's hard to get him to face that his organization is the cause of this. He just bottles it all up and pretends everything is OK.

Did you ever clean parks as a JW?
by JimmyPage ini remember several brothers who did this and sometimes when they went out of town our family would do their route.
they would bid on public parks to clean and as you might guess the job involved picking up the trash and cleaning the bathrooms.
the pickup would get pretty smelly from all the trash bags in the bed and the day would end at the dump.

Handbill for 2010 District Conventions
by dozy inthe wts has announced the usual handbill invitation "campaign" for the conventions this year.
i haven't seen a copy but i assume that it will be similar to the one for congregation meetings and from previous years.
the usual 30 per publisher allocation.. i seriously wonder about the efficacy of these campaigns.

What sane person is going to be handed an invitation to attend a convention on something they've never heard about and just decide to travel 300 miles to attend it out of the blue? But I guess sane people aren't really the target demographic.
I never participated in those. It seemed like a really bad idea to go around your community and tell everyone that you and all the other local JWs were going to be away for the entire weekend. It seemed like inviting someone to rob your house while you're away.
