Just wanted to say Welcom to dk. I feel bad for you. JW families suck. I know how my parents treated outsiders. Wish I had some helpful advice. Its easy to say your better off without them, but I understand that desire to be part of a real family.

Need Some Advice on MIL JW
by dkeithia inok i will try and make this story short because its not my intent to go on a huge mil bashing spree.
september of 2004 i meet my now husband.
while we were dating he told me that he wanted nothing to do with his family because they were jw's and he was disfellowshipped because of them and his now ex-fiancee.

Is the "My Book of Bible Stories" appropriate reading for Little Ones?
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy little boy, aged 4 1/2 loves his bedtime stories, and also loves "jesus stories" as he calls them... .
now, i have never gotten around to going to a book store and actually buying a childrens bible story book from the shops (yes...i still have a bit of a mental block and some deep seated issues about any religious literature).
my mom gave my kids a copy of the bible story book, as well as listening to the great teacher (the new soft cover book - think it is called that?

My family were blessed with the My Book of BS when I was 8 years old. A few of the stories gave me recurring nightmares. My father was studing this book with me and my sister. The worst was the story about Abraham sacrificing Isaac. I asked my father if God would ask him to kill me, would he. He said that he would. From then on I had nightmares of my dad tying me up and slaughtering me with a knife. I never told him about this.
I want to go thru the book with my own boy in a couple years, but to put a totally different spin on all of the stories. I'd tell him "If god told me to kill you, I'd tell him to piss off and leave us alone. He'd have to go thru me first". I'd show him the book properly so he understands how stupid the old testament is.

Field ministry blooper reel:
by Awakened07 in-did you ever stuff up your presentation while going door-to-door?.
i remember one beautiful summer day, me and my 'partner' were slowly approaching a man working in his garden.
it was warm, it was sunny, it was beautiful, it was peaceful and quiet - you might say it was "paradise".

Thanks guys. The welcome here has been great. I was so relieved to find this forum with like minded people. I initially found some other forums with FREAKS on them. I mean my worries that everyone who leaves the borg might go evil seemed to be confirmed by those forums. Then I found this one and http://exjw.meetup.com . So glad I kept searching. Your support is really inspiring me. I'm not totally out yet, but I'm done with the meetings. (been done with field misery for 5 years). I'll be out soon hopefully.

Typical Creationist Reasoning (warning:snarky)
by inkling ini found these on aig, on the topic of the problem of egyptian history being recorded before .
and straight on through the time of noah's flood, almost as if they didn't notice the factthat they were all being drowned and their civilization was being destroyed.
(silly egyptians)this can be resolved easily.

Meetings are very children unfriendly
by Robert7 ini guess the parents can appreciate this one, and this is a very imporant issue since kids are a huge part of your lifel.... have you noticed that meetings are so not children friendly?
you are expected to keep you children, regardless of age, quiet for 2 hours.
the expectation is that they are as quiet as an adult.

I had a crying baby and one of the servants asked me to leave the auditorium. Once in the foyer, about 10 seconds later, another "servant" told me that I was spoiling the child and should return to my seat. Neither of these had children. I was not happy that day.

Worst WT term ever
by Robert7 inmy vote for the worst watchtower term is:.
circumcision of the heart!.
i can't believe that there are people who can not only say "circumcision of the heart" with a straight face in front of the congregation, but defend its 'meaning'.. other runners up in my opinion:.

"In the truth" is the worst! I always cringed at that one. What does it mean to be IN an abstract concept!?! Why couldn't they say "In agreement with the truth"? I guess those extra words would take time away from the field misery. Or if you replace the word the word "truth" with the word "cult", then it totally makes sense!
My mother uses this phrase even with "worldly" people, and I just shake my head and think what wackos they must have thought we were.

Is Ron Paul big in the USA Trailer Parks?
Reminds me of one of my favorite "Dead Milkmen" Songs --
Now Stuart, if you look at the soil around any large U.S. city with a big
underground homosexual population - Des Moines, Iowa, perfect example.
Look at the soil around Des Moines, Stuart. You can't build on it, you
can't grow anything in it. The government says it's due to poor farming.
But I know what's really going on, Stuart. I know it's the queers.
They're in it with the aliens. They're building landing strips for gay
Martians. I swear to God.
You know what Stuart, I like you. You're not like the other people, here
in the trailer park.
