Funny thing is, the MS didn't get his title back...
That's standard procedure -
1) punish the ones trying to do the right thing.
2) never admit mistakes because the elders are chosen by holy spirit, thus can't show failability
in steve hassan's book , " combatting cult mind control" it states : " a famous experiment in conformity by dr. solomon asch demonstrated that people will doubt their own perceptions if they are put in a social situation where it appears that the most confident people in the group are all giving the wrong answer to a question.
another psychologist , stanley milgram , tested people for obedience to authority and found that over 90 percent of his subjects would obey orders, even if they believed that doing so caused physical suffering to another person.
milgram wrote : " the essence of obedience consists in the fact that a person comes to view himself as the instrument for carrying out another person's wishes, and therefore no longer regards himself as responsible for his own actions .

book - parenting beyond belief: on raising caring ethical children without religion.. i just wanted to point out this book to other jwdr's.
i just finished reading it last week and i thought it would be good to post on here, not only for atheist or secular parents, but also those in "religious limbo" for example those who have just left a religion and don't want to join another and don't necessarily know what or how to explain things to their kids.. it is comprised of a series of essays by various intellectuals and covers various subjects such as religious tolerance and education, encouraging your children to think and explore their thoughts, holidays and how to handle them, how to explain the "big questions" and ways to seek community.. personally, i think that the book kind of pushes universal unitarianism in several points throughout.
it's subtle pushing but it's there none-the-less, but other then that it's actually put together very well.
Thanks for the review. I ordered my copy last week. Can't wait to get it. The wife and I are struggling with these issues now.
when i was in the organisation was in a few different congs.
every one always had a good proportion of them that claimed they had "me".
not sure what they call it in the states but think chronic fatigue may be similar.it had an age range between young teenagers and midle aged ones.
Fibromyalgia and TMJ
recently we seem to have had a few different dramas and subsequent fallout on the fourm which i feel has detracted from its purpose.
with this in mind we have decided that we need to bring the forum back on track and as such we will be clamping down on a lot of the aggressive / insulting posts which have begun to become the norm for a few people.
we will also be clamping down on the paranoid assusation type of comments against newbies, if someone joins the fourm and you do not believe everything they post - so what, why do we need to hound them away with shouts of troll and fake etc, just ignore them if you dont beleive them.
Good man Simon.
One suggestion - the volume of posts is pretty overwhelming. I think it would be a lot better if posts were categorized into JW / Non JW groups (for topics like "whats your favorite band"). I'd love to be able to ignore those types of posts altogether to save time and make sure I don't miss the good stuff.
why did we used to do this?
whenever we sang/prayed we used to sway like crazy lol.
Once I had kids I started swaying and dancing with them for a bit-o-fun. As well as making up my own rude lyrics and singing with the kids. Not horribly rude - just potty humor that kids like.
i called her today to know how she's doing and all that...we were chatting about different things, and she mentions that she was in the circuit assembly today...and then it went like this.... "have you gone to any of the meetings since you moved to texas?
"i don't think so, mother.
no, i won't", i replied..
Could be worse Reverend. It's funny - my mom said the same thing to me -- "Are you going to be catholic now" in a mocking tone. What's up with that?
is there anybody who can upload the watchtower library 2007 ?
maybe at http://www.thepiratebay.org.
thanks,.
Foyc has a link to it if you PM him. And it's on edonkey here -- Watchtower Library 2007.rar
most of us have read that 1968 awake article that clearly states their belief that 1975 was going to be the end of the "system of things.
" i decided to check out the watchtower library just to see if this article appeared.
it didn't, but i noticed something very strange.
The CD is only half full, so it's not a space limitation.
has anyone else had a browse of the new study watchtower for april?
what then are valueless things?
thus their words were "a valueless thing.
Thanks for posting this. I'm not getting the mags any more. I was wondering how long the private versions would be out before they cranked up the crazy level a bit.
