Houston Texas Meetup Group

just wanted to let "y'all" know about the meetup group h-town ex-jw (meetup.com).

if you want to join feel free.. i now there are some who find it helpful hanging with people who "get" you or understand.. i have a strict rule of not outing people.

if you have that concern let me know and i will try to make sure that doesn't happen.. the next meetup is planned for march 7 ( i think that is a friday).. let us know, all are welcome.. -r.

If you could travel anywhere in the world.

my husband and i decided to go somewhere next year -- anywhere in the world.

consider we live in america and have never been ouside of america.

(well -- jamaca/caimen islands but that doesn't really count!

kids and blood issue

hubby and i were arguing about something, and in my frusteration, i screamed that we couldn't even have a family like normal people.

he was flabergasted and asked why, i explained that i pretty much had thrown that notion out the door because if it ever came to faith, i wouldn't want to raise them jw and he would.

i explained that i could never deny my child treatment that would save his life due to the blood issue.

Hubby and i were arguing about something, and in my frusteration, I screamed that we couldn't even have a family like normal people. I explained that I could never deny my child treatment that would save his life due to the blood issue. This really sucks. just wanted to vent.

I swear to every thing I hold dearly that if it weren't for this issue our marriage would be near perfect. It's loving, supportive, sweet, fun, spontaneous, and any other good adjective you can think off. I explained that I would rather keep him just the way we are, with him being inactive, than lose him. He said that it is something we can work through....this again hurts so much. thanks to all for listening...

For anyone thinking of having kids with a JW..

please do not reproduce with a jw!!

growing up jw sucks big time.

out in the cold in service, out in the heat in service, 30 hours a week of meetings, service, prep, family study (at least) on top of homework, chores, limited access to friends, getting dragged in front of a jc every time a stupid rumor comes up, constant pressure to "narc" on your friends, no extracurricular activities, no higher education, having to hate everyone not a jw etc, having to kiss ass to anyone who has abused you/screwed you over if you don't have "proof"... any more reasons?

There is exactly on thing keeping me from wanting to have a family. It is just that fact. Hubby and I had the conversation briefly after I got back from letting another man investigate down there for the yearly catch up...sorry couldn't help it. I told him I had informed my gyno yet again that we weren't ready but maybe in a few years. My hubby, to my shock said, "a few years?"

I, being a woman felt the tears coming on, so i reminded him that there a quite a few things we need to work out before we even approach the subjet. He said he understood.

I don't think I'll proceed until I see a glimmer of hope that he is done or at least questioning. Just couldn't do that to a child.

do others in the congregation know how detailed these meetings get?

It doesn't seem as they do. They just use Him. They don't want to be like Him and live by His example, they want to be Him!

Thanks so much for the response. I just don't think that God requires so much paperwork. No, I'm not going to face a committee, I am not a JW. My hubby of almost 3 years is.

The debate I'm talking about is my hubby and I talking about having kids. It's fast approaching in our relationship, and issues need to be discussed. I've brought this up before in another thread.
