My car. It was old. But, nicely restored. And fast. Apparently, I had the back end jacked up too far for the tastes of the local elders. I told them that if they didn't like my car they could buy me a new one. The end.

Does one person, personify the child-hating spirit of the JW's?
by IreallydidwalkoutofaKH ini just ask this...becauce last weekend i had a conversation with someone who could not understand why i would leave god, becauce of a person.
you know the whole "would you leave your wife becauce your boss fired you"!
but my take was based on an individual during that conversation, who really illustrates to me what a disfunctional experience being in the organization was.

I don't think it had anything to do with hating children, I think he was just a gigantic dick! If you were 100 and he had an opportunity to take advantage of you, he would have.

It wasn't my fear of rejection that held me back, it was, in fact, the constant, repetitive rejection that held me back! LOL
It got to the point where I just didn't bother any more. Well, now I'm married to a hot chick. Sometimes I can't help but wonder how warped she must be to want to marry me, considering the millions of other women who rejected me. Maybe she needs glasses? I don't know. Hmmm.......

Why are so many leaving?
by Dorktacular ini've noticed as of late that quite a few people are posting "good bye" threads.... why?.
sometimes people have disagreements or arguments, but does that mean they can't remain friends or talk?.
hell, if i left my wife every time we had an argument, we wouldn't have stayed married through our honeymoon!

LOL at Jimmy Page!
I was so offended at your leaving that I was gonna leave, too! But then I saw that you were back a few seconds later, so I didn't have time to leave. Man, that was a close one...

Hell, if I left my wife every time we had an argument, we wouldn't have stayed married through our honeymoon! I have friends, and sometimes my friends and I disagree vehemently about a topic and we debate and argue, call each other assholes, but afterwards we all have a beer and have fun. Just because somebody has a problem with one or two people doesn't mean that they should have to abandon the whole group. I go to parties sometimes where everybody there isn't my friend, so I just worry about my friends and leave those others alone. I think the same strategy can work here, too.
Come on, guys, can't we all just get along? Seriously.

who is worst, witness father or worldly mother
by Hexie ini'd like to introduce myself first.....im from south africa,i"ve been a member for a while but this is the first time im posting.all i can say is ,whenever i read through these posts, i get mad ,sad and i laugh.. i am not a witness but ive got this "thing" against jw religion, because they''ve turned my brother into a monster zombie 6 years ago.damn,... if i only knew then what i know now,i would have been able to save him.lol.
he has two sons 8 and12yrs, and i can see how these children are being brainwashed.the older one loves playing soccer and asked if he could join a club, but his dad told him he will get into fights etc.
and how will jehova feel about that.i have a lot of opportunity to "unbrainwash" them but im wondering if i should wait till they a little older.his worldly wife is litteraly a wordly person...what i mean by that is, my brother works at sea and and when he is away ,she will hit those kids to go to meetings, because in her own words......if i want a nice life and and nice thing ,i have to do what your dad wants ...even though she doesnt care about the religion, wich in my eyes is probably worst than a witness.. how can i help them without cousing confusion?.

I had a witness father and a "worldy" mother.
Dad wins the pain-in-the-ass contest, hands down. Mom was cool.

Do Meeting Times pop into mind for you?
by AK - Jeff inafter years of fighting the die-hard hard wiring i donned as a jdubya, i have noted finally of late that meeting times do not pop into my mind any longer.
for years i stayed aware [obviously without wishing to do so] of the fact that it was 'thursday' or 'sunday', and as the meeting time approached i became aware of what the routines of the 'brothers' would be - getting dressed, gathering the books and bibles, ushering the kiddies into the car, hurry to the meeting place, running late, getting there 5 minutes before the song,,,, so forth.
i think the guilt was layered so deeply that it took me a few years to shed it entirely - i rarely think of such now and take it as positive healing for me.

Yeah, it took a few years before I quit thinking about meeting times.... Now it doesn't even cross my mind. Now I just focus on the times my favorite tv shows come on!
