Brothers, if you heard it, you did not hear it here.
Circuit assembly after 1975 fiasco.
Brother the machine is out of order. ( Attendant referring to a working vending machine at district assembly)

i became a jw in 1958, but was unable to attend the large convention at yankee stadium and the polo grounds in new york.
i understand that there were also two other large conventions held there in 1950 and 1953. anyone in this forum attend any of these?
remember any highlights?
I was there in 1958. I was 14. I still have the pictures I took there. Rode with my brother, parents and aunt and uncle. Six of us in a 4 door 1953 Chevy 6 banger all the way from South Dakota without any air conditioning.
The trip sucked although it had enjoyable monents. The program started 9 am and quit at 9 pm and went on for 8 days. I think maybe that was where the Society announced women were allowed into the minisrty school. I might be wrong.
I'd rather be dead than sit through that again.

so much information on this website, so many raw emotions felt by individual's as a direct consequence of being in this 'religion', the underbelly of wt teachings that the organisation tries it's damnedest to keep from you, the general public, in essence, what is it that these people really believe in a nutshell?.
jehovah's witnesses believe that this whole world is lying in the complete control and power of the wicked one, satan the devil.
who is satan according to their belief structure?
A while back I wrote an article about this subject and showed how "New Light" comes from Satan.
In support of their recent Biblical interpretation change concerning "this generation" (Matt. 24:34), the Governing Body (hereafter GB) of Jehovah's Witnesses submitted four documents. (Watchtower, 11/1/95, p. 12)
Those were:
1. Walter Bauer's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament.
2. W.E. Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words.
3. J.H. Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament.
4. The Theological Dictionary of the New Testament (1964), edited by Gerhard Kittle.
the trial to decide whether the father can continue to allow his ill jw daughter to have blood transfusions is in progress.
four people are testifying in the father's defense.
jim penton, sam muramoto, chris christonson, and greg stafford.
To do legal battle with the Watch Tower Corporations is like trying to break a casino by playing blackjack at their table following their rules. Just when I win a few hands they bring in a fresh dealer with a full tray of money and continue.
The dealers are like the Watch Tower Corporate attorneys. It is just a job. They are getting paid whether they win or loose. Their egos or life savings or title to their houses are not on the table.
Going to court with the Watch Tower is playing their game by their rules.
I pity the Canada father who's daughter is sick. I know of another case where the Witness parents neglected giving their child medical treatment for leukemia and the court ordered her chemo treatment supported by blood medical treatment.
The whole family are still JW's. It is a certainty that when she turns 18 she will refuse further treatment and will relapse and die prematurely. This is part of the price people pay for being or having been Jehovah's Witnesses.
This is a deadly group and they gloat over the dead bodies of their victims, yet people stay and ignore the warnings. All of it is a shame. I'm so sorry.

Hi outnfree
Glad you're out and free. The real job for many of us has been fighting the urge to return.
Those almost always are preceeded by a floating episode.
It helps me to study floating so I am aware what is happening when it happens.

i was watching cnn yesterday when they were talking about the supreme court ruling.
there was a "counsel" that was representing the jw's and he was explaining what the ruling meant for the borg and all citizens of this country.
then he went on saying something that just blows my mind and has always bothered me when i used to be an active dub.
. He mentioned something to the effect that if it wasn't for the Watchtower we wouldnt have freedom of speech as we know it today.Actually I believe he is right.
I'd have to add, if it wasn't for the Watchtower we wouldnt have as much premature death, divorce, pain and broken families either.

Hey Farkel,
I should have Randy post my messages here :-) My writing gets replies when he posts them :-)
Thanks Randy. BTW, business is booming. Lots of new e-mails from JW's planning their walkaway.

i know i'll get a lot of flack from this, but witnesses are good folks.and your average witness is concerned about you,non-witness.i've been there and i almost became one.my ex did become one.
it's not what they are taught by the watchtower,it's how one is taught.if one was what a witness was taught there wouldn't be any witnesses.it's how one is taught.most of the witnesses always told me,if you have any questions there's a book by the society that will answer your question.
(s)the watchtower is persistent.well so was i.the more books i read that the watchtower wrote, the more questions i had.and i,always, made sure i stayed on the topic.they never did.they always avoided my questions.and they are real good at that.

i was df'd a number of years ago.
my parents never shunned me - they didn't feel that df'ing broke the family ties.
but when my brothers or uncle were in town i was "allowed" to come visit at certain times when their other jw friends would not be around.
Dawn you wrote: < Fortunately, my husband never did join in with their games - he refused to go also when I wasn't invited. But somehow it didn't really hit them until my son decided he wouldn't go either.>
Glad to hear it. I hope you remembered to tell them that their standing by you while your relatives snub you is appreciated. To hear of another family staying together in spite of cruel parents and controling relatives makes me very happy. Thanks for sharing the good story.
