Special announcement next week?????
Most likely it will be the toilet cleaning schedule. I bet it has something to do with books and a publishing company:-)

Answer to the ? Do you believe this is Gods Organization?
by darth frosty init seems that this is the catch all question that elders like to use to prove apostasy or just to get rid of you.
i was thinking that this is a possible way to answer the ?
and turn the tables on them.

If ya want to dodge Witness questions . . . no matter what the question . . . just answer it: "I agree with the Watchtower magazine on that."
If they ask what do you mean? I flip on them and ask them: "You do read the Watchtower don't you?"
If they push I'll take them in such a tight circle that they'll be kissing their own asses in 5 minutes and won't know how it happened.
Conversation with a believing Witness is a contact sport . . . sort of like tackle football. -

Upcoming Elders Schooling
by Questions1 init's no secret that the "organization" has increased it's cia, national security clerance only super-secret attitude in regards to the elder school that is going to be conducted soon.
a few days ago, i had a conversation with an elder who has been in the fold all of his life practically.
in keeping with the conversation style of jws, the gentleman told me that nobody knows what exactly will be taught at the meetings, but in his backdoor conversations with some brothers who seem to be tuned into the bethel's officially, unofficial, communications network, the elders are going to be taught "post-armageddon" teachings.

Witnesses are end timers. If they quit talking and writing about the end time, they'd have no purpose. The literature and meetings the last few years focus more on the Society's claim of divine direction than about the end time.
It's a swinging pendulum. For a while they go all out on the doom and gloom and then they hammer the claim of ghosts directing the Society. They only have two plans.
Plan #1. Keep the brothers working.
Plan #2. If the brothers quit working, see plan #1.
That's all the elder training is about in a nutshell, loyalty, and work! All mistakes were tests, payday is in the future. If you die waiting . . . didn't you have a great life!
One old Witness told me: Even if it isn't true, it's been a wonderful way to live! -

I've long said, if you want to hide anything from a Jehovah's Witness, put it in the Watchtower magazine . . . or Proclaimers book.

Yes, Now they are saying Jesus never returned at all . . . even invisibly. That's in print. -

Proclaimers chap. 10 p. 137
Growing in Accurate Knowledge of the Truth
As the events following 1914 began to unfold and the Bible Students compared these with what the Master had foretold, they gradually came to appreciate that they were living in the last days of the old system and that they had been since 1914. They also came to understand that it was in the year 1914 that Christ's invisible presence had begun and that this was, not by his personally returning (even invisibly) to the vicinity of the earth, but by his directing his attention toward the earth as ruling King.

Note: (even invisibly) is in the original text. -

After the great disappointment, the end timers originally met to console each other in their grief that the end hadn't come. They were called consolation meetings. I'm not sure when they evolved into sales meetings but that's what they were when I attended.
* Sunday talk was to maintain belief in the Bible as the authority.
* The Watchtower magazine study meeting used the Bible to promote the belief that the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation is magically directed and owned by the invisible writer of the Bible.
* Tuesday night book study is to reinforce belief that the "Society" is God's channel, and ghosts are directing the writers of the literature.
* The ministry school meeting is to train Sunday speakers and to train recruiters and fundraisers.
* The "service" meeting is a full blown sales/business meeting. Products used to solicit funds are scheduled, sales presentations are rehearsed and demonstrated, corporate policy is initiated or reviewed, and personnel is added and deleted.
That's the outline: Establish authority, use established authority to create demand for product, promote product to raise funds, use products to recruit new members, use established authority to keep members from questioning the authority, use shunning at the meetings to coerce compliance from members.
Without meetings there are no members. Without product, there are no meetings. See how it works? -

Assembly Resolutions
by DT ineven when i was a believing jw, i began to really dislike those fake assembly resolutions.
my biggest complaint was that we weren't given any time to think about them before we were called on to agree.
i thought they were pretty meaningless and stopped responding to them.

Not all resolutions had positive effects. One resolution was printed up in Germany and distributed to the detriment of the Witness people. An ex-Witness had to ride into Berlin on a tank and get the Witnesses out of prison.
Try to find that in Proclaimers . . . -

Opinion - What % of JWs are hardcore Kool Aid partakers?
by Gregor inthe recent thread about the 1975 after effects (fall off in members) got me to thinking about the ratio of hardcore, "can't kill 'em with a stick", witnesses to the marginal, "spiritually weak", followers.
for all the backtracking and double talk old freddy caused the gb with his 1975 'vision', they learned a lot about the make up of their followers and were reassured that they have a hardcore majority base that will always be there.
my guess is it is around 80/20.

I think there's a distinction between belief and compliance but not a difference. I don't CARE how many believe . . . How many comply? I see 100% complying.
Belief doesn't hurt them or us. Compliance and support does. I see support and compliance without belief and support and compliance with belief all accomplishing the exact same thing.
