by Tatiana infor the life of me i can't remember and can't find even with "search" what the exact belief was about the age of the earth.
did it change?
i could have sworn we were taught to believe that the earth was no more than 5-7 thousand years old.

Age of Earth / Age of Universe
by Shepherd Book inhere's my understanding of the watchtower's teachings through the years -.
1. first they taught that the universe and the earth were created 6,000 years ago in a single week.. 2. then they taught that the universe was created at some unspecified point in the past, and that each of the six creative "days" was 6,000 years long.. 3. now they teach that the universe was created at some unspecified point in the past, and that each of the six creative "days" was millions of years long.
so here are my questions: i know that point #2 (above) is promoted in the paradise lost book, and i know that point #3 (above) is promoted in the life-how did it get here-by evolution or by creation book.

Reasoning From The Scriptures 1989 p. 88 Creation
Was all physical creation accomplished in just six days sometime within the past 6,000 to 10,000 years?
The facts disagree with such a conclusion: (1) Light from the Andromeda nebula can be seen on a clear night in the northern hemisphere. It takes about 2,000,000 years for that light to reach the earth, indicating that the universe must be at least millions of years old. (2) End products of radioactive decay in rocks in the earth testify that some rock formations have been undisturbed for billions of years.
"Consider the relationship between Jehovah and Jesus. They were together in heaven for perhaps billions of years."
The Watchtower, August 15, 2005

". . . Paradise earth, "Who else does that?"
That's an idiotic statement. Your sister might not be an idiot but she doesn't want to talk about Watchtowerisms with you. That's a conversation stopper. I tried all that with my dad and when he finally admitted everything Witnesses ever promoted in his lifetime, turned out to be wrong, he said: "I couldn't of had a better life.".
We reduced his cult to the ridiculous and he still wouldn't let go. I found debating with a believing Witness a waste of time and messy . . . it's sort of like being in a pissing contest with a skunk. -

I'm not sure Russell came up with anything original at all . . . ever. It looks to me like he was more of a salad maker than an inventor.

Witness Wife Seeks Divorce Because JW Husband Hits Her & Mentally Abuses
by minimus inso she went into the refuge of her elder grandfather who has taken care of her and the 2 kids.
but the other elders told him that because she was getting an unscriptural divorce and the husband was in denial about being abusive, he had to kick her and the grand kids out or else lose his eldership.
(he has taught elder's school and is highly regarded).. so grandpa gave them the news that they have to get out!

It takes a certain mind-set to read Witness produced literature and appreciate it. I don't have it. -

Very sad. Don't know him but in 1963 I spent time at a Witness owned and run logging camp in Meadowlands. The guys who owned the camp lived in Cloquet. They spent M-F at the camp and went back to Cloquet weekends. They had an old Swede living at the cabin full time and he cooked for them and cared for the camp in exchange for a neat place to live.
Loren Peterson from Chisago City took me up there one weekend and we stayed there two nights. That old Swede guy made coffee and started the wood stove in the morning. We must have been there in December. It was cold. It was deer hunting season and I wend deer hunting with the guys but I just had a camera. I still have the pictures I took on that trip. I was18 and I was living in Minneapolis, sharing an apartment, with Howard Kluender from Isanti at the time.
I have good memories from those times. -

`
You might have had a happy childhood and your parents were nice to you. I didn't and mine weren't. I'm not much for playing games or misrepresenting myself. The way to keep people from finding out something is to tell them. I'm happy to deal with reality and I'm open to all who treat me and who treat people who are important to me with respect.
If you don't like me for my religion or maybe my lack of religion that makes you a bigot and you don't meet my minimum standards for association. Jehovah's Witnesses is nothing but a bigotry club. They're nothing to fear, they're incredible.
One of the best days of my life was the day I realized I had nothing to loose to the Jehovah's Witnesses. I left them with a challenge: Defend that which you claim to be the truth or admit it's not. I'll meet that defense with Watch Tower Corporation produced literature and first hand testimony of 300 victims of Jehovah's Witness abuse.
The Jehovah's Witnesses started their fight with me but I get to finish it with my rules, on my terms. I like to keep a reasonable distance from believing Witnesses. I've found 100 miles to be a reasonable minimum distance.`
