I pity the kids. The adults either amuse me or offend me. I can't muster feeling sorry for any adult that is willfully ignorant, willfully mean, or any who voluntarily support a benevolent organization.

If its not the way. Which way is?
by maryacclaim ini read a lot of the topics and subjects in this forum, and can't help but to ask, if the witnesses ideas are not the way, then which way is?.
i was a witness for over 25 years and have been out of the organization for over 3 years now.
yet, i have a hard time seeing anyone else's way as the right way to go.

The Watch Tower Corporation along with all philosophy, tries to answer three questions: How did we get here? What are we doing here? Where are we going? All Watch Tower Corporation writings deal with one of these basic three questions.
For one philosophy book printing business to claim they have the only possible right answers to these three questions is beyond arrogant. It's incredible! When the Watch Tower Corporation states an opinion as a fact, that doesn't make it a fact. That just proves they're idiots.
I had to get out of the box and look at the box to appreciate the tactics used by the Watch Tower Corporation. The Watch Tower Corporation makes a claim and then makes a rule against challenging any of their claims. Then they enforce the rule by requiring your relatives to snub and shun you. Do ya think they might be trying to hide something? :-) -

I am so sick of hearing the word "soon."
by TooBad TooSad inthe use of the word "soon" at the kh is used so much by jw's.
that it has almost turned into a "soon" doctrine.. i counted the word soon 15 times at the meeting yesterday during the.
public talk and wt.

I love the "soons" and the "nears" and the "generations". When a Witness asks me when I'll be to a meeting, I'll say "soon, before this generation passes away!". And then I'll look at their 1984 Olds and say:"The end is near!". Hahahaha
If I can't flip a Witness like a buttermilk pancake on a hot griddle, I'll eat 10 bound volumes from grandma's attic. -

What are some of the 'good' things you learned during and after being a Jehovah's Witness?
by Dune inmy problems with the wtbs have always been their doctrine and their absolute control of the rank and file, not the principles that they and most mainstream religions teach.
i grew up in a predominantly black urban metropolitan area that had a high crime rate and drug usage.
when i go back to my old neighborhood, i always hear about how some of my peers are drug addicts, incarcerated or dead.

How did you feel about attending another church?
by digderidoo inthis question is for those who have attended another church since leaving the jw's.. i have considered attending a local church, firstly out of curiosity and secondly because i do enjoy discussing the bible with people and learning new thoughts on scripture.. the only thing that stops me though is crossing that line.
i guess it was a bit like when i first posted here, it took me ages to pluck up the courage and now what was the big deal?.
did anyone else have this feeling before attending another church, that feeling of crossing the line of no return.

A huge thing I noticed from attending Christian church services and from attending a church sponsored small group Bible study for a year was: that what the Watch Tower Corporation told us the churches believed are not the beliefs taught by the churches I attended.
The focus of the church was actually on helping each other, not on preaching dogma. Anyone could disagree with any teaching and still be welcome and equal in the group. It was like the beliefs were the common element but they were not a prerequisite. Nothing like the Witness group I was raised in. -

Another reinstatment attempt...
by XxJazzxX inwell...my family is moving back to pa in may.
as a result, my wife wrote a 2nd letter to the brothers to see if she can get reinstated before she leave.
her first letter was ok but their response was, of course, attend more meetings!!.

I've been well rid of any Witness who would shun or snub me or anybody important to me. If they disrespect me because of my choice of religion, or because of my choice of freedom from religion, I don't have time for them. I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

I enjoy visiting churches. They are mini cultures in a multi culture society. The people are nice and the food is always good. I visited one nearby country church and during the service there was a pause in the service when the pastor (a woman) asked the congregation to stand and meet and greet everyone within arm's reach.
I laughed to myself during the exchange thinking that could NEVER happen in a Jehovah's Witness meeting because of the people there being snubbed and shunned. Jehovah's Witnesses treat some members as lepers and it's not as obvious at the Kingdom Hall because the meetings are structured to allow the disrespect. The contrast is striking when I visit a (real) friendly church.
After the church service, all present were invited to stay for a full sit down meal. I stayed for the meal and visited with friendly strangers. Some were in casual clothes, some wore suits. The food was GOOD, there were no authority figures strutting around and there was NO BACK ROOM! -

Left the WT but why the loss of your faith in God?
by Luo bou to insure the wt deceived you with its claim to be god's channel but why for so many is there a subsequent loss of faith in god ?
it puzzles me and makes me wonder why they were jw's in the first place..

Left the WT but why the loss of your faith in God?
I've wondered the same thing:-) Just because one dynamic claim turned out to be a scam, that's no reason to investigate any other superstitious assumptions. All other claims of a super (un) natural nature should just be accepted as credible without investigation.
PS: I have a good price on some oceanfront property in Arizona for sale. -
