What should I say to Mom to really help her?
by OnTheWayOut inanyone who is following my threads knows that i post most everything about my .
wife's loyalty to the wts and the fade i am doing.
i don't post much about my mother.. if you did catch it, i told her several months ago that i had stepped aside as an elder.. she had asked if it was a personal problem, then was it a problem with the boe.. i told her that it was a problem with the organization itself.

ask mom how she feels about you leaving jw's. she still might be in denial about you not being a jw. kindly remind her of where your at. i don't think i would get into anything too deep with doctrine unless she asks. it might overwhelm her. best wishes

"Question Authority"(think for yourself) is it a good or bad idea?
by frankiespeakin inwhat your opinion?.
should we question religous authority only?
what about governmental authority?

i haven't thought about timothy leary in a loooooooooooooooong time. i always question authority, sometimes to my detriment (on the job etc.)

Now I've gone and done it
by Uncertain inas part of my churchly visits while working on my uncertainty, i took communion at a baptist church.
i was baptized twenty-three years ago so it was all on the up and up, at least in protestant christendom.
it had been years, and it was a very moving experience.

grateful to my Elders..No talks, no FS time, no privledges....no problem!
by oompa inso one year of lots of questions and showing doubts, and missing quite a few meetings but still going out in service, doing mics, reading, hall projects...then i get the new light from society regarding the letter i sent them (wow, stunned me, blew me away) and i let them know how i felt about it and i quit the ministry after 40 active years.
nobody says anything about this, no counsel, no will you go out with us on saturday.
not a single "were is your time for the month" phone call.

ps. i recall when my self value came from whether or not the elders payed attention to what i was doing. if they showed an interest in me then i felt valued. i'm glad they've left you alone, but on the other had one doesn't feel very important if nobody cares if they exist or not. know that you are important to the human race, universe and God, in whatever form you believe in. He does care about you. Fourty years is a long time to be in imprisoned in mind & spirituality. Think of what you like to do, what are your dreams & passions. Follow them even if one step at a time.

My thoughts

Akira,
Welcome to the forum. I think the advice to take it slow is wise. I've tried to attend churches, but that doesn't get it for me as too much wt programming floods into my mind. Know that God loves you just the way you are and you don't have to do anything out of the ordinary to earn his love. It's called GRACE. I asked Jesus to reside in my heart and life has been good. Just be a good person and be open to following whatever you find. Best wishes in your journey.
