GoverningBody.org is now up.
by James Free inwell, i finally put up the site.
the articles are nothing new - bits from wikipedia etc.
but i hope it will persuade even one 'interested' one to avoid the jw's - and even get an existing member to think.

Suicide
by Nicolas ini know it's a touchy subject, but anyone here has ever thought of suicide while they were still in the organization?
it seem to me that jehovah's witnesses have a much higher rate of suicide than the rest of the population.
i contemplated suicide myself when i was struggling to get piece of my life back together after being raised as a "perfect little jw" when i was young.

i contemplated suicide when i was a jw. i was on anti-depressants and felt like driving into the path of a semi on more than one occasion. it was a very dark time for me. i'm grateful i lived through it.
now that i'm out i never, ever would even think of ending my life (perhaps if i had a terminal illness) i love life and everything about it.
i heard last week that a woman who was a jw committed suicide. she was the po's wife and always had a smile on her face. makes one wonder.

Just Rambling about things I gone through lately....could use advise....
by Retharen inwell to say the least i have not been much of a jw lately......young person just having trouble on the road of life...i drifted away from jah and started moving toward witch craft.....not the best decision of my life to say the least but i am trying to come back.
i have not really ever been good with getting to the meetings having school homework friends and just my plain laziness but it seems to have gotten worse lately.my mom seems to have the impression that it is a good idea to try and force me to be a jw... i know it is right and all but i can't really do things when i am being forced...i just with things could be simpler.
i am open for advise and all of that...i could really use it...

I agree that your studies should come first. You've been told that Jehovah's Witnesses have the "truth."
Just because someone says something doesn't make it true. I suggest your pursue your hobbies and interests and you might not feel so tired.
If you don't already, try to go for a walk and get some physical activity to clear your mind and help you think succinctly.
Best Wishes

Today I went to the Farmer's Market to sell my bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies, canned jellies and mustard and goat milk soap an fudge. This lady comes up and starts raving about how good my bread looks. I use all natural ingredients and it is good bread but I was really starting to feel like a piece of toast. She said she had to go get some money from her daughter and came back to say that they didn't have any money with them but would be back next week. I told her I would take a check and she said she was from out of town and I said "The bank will cash it." So she picks out what bread she wanted leaves, comes back again and give me a check. She showed me where she was from Eden NY and I wondered what she was getting at. She said that's was paradise. I shook my head in agreement and out comes the watchtower with two handwritten notes on it. she wanted to give it to me, mind you with a line full of customers behind her. I could feel my face burning at the sight of the rag and told her very directly "That magazine would be better off in someone else's hands" She quickly walked away without the bread and hubby had to run after her to give it to her. What a fiasco. I wished I would of said "That wouldn't be safe in my hands" because it really wouldn't be better off in someone else's hands. But I guess I was saying that indirectly. I'm so thankful for all the support I have here as I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

nine pages of BS from October AWAKE
by purplesofa ini hope that some of you lurkers out here really take a look at some of the thread in this section of the board.
this awake magazine says not one thing about how families are asked to trust their elders and how these very elders were and are abusing their children.
it mentions nothing about watching out for these trusted men in the congregations.............oh it brings out the internet, other family members and fathers and males in particular.. it will tell you how much your child needs to do to prevent something like this from happening.

purps,
thanks for sharing your thoughts and all the work you put into scanning this magazine article. they need to WAKE up.
As a victim of child abuse while in an institution I empathize with your anger and frustration. Denial of the events is like the abuse happening all over again. The Moose Club continues to deny and cover up abuse that happened and is happening to many children. When someone trys to speak up, they victim is the problem. There's no excuse for any of it.
Keep up the good work.
