Let's Hear it For Simon -Thanks For This Board - And All it Accomplishes

i think it's only appropriate to put out a thread to thank simon for the great job he does in moderating this board, watching over discussions to make sure that the purpose of jwd discussion stays focused .

i believe that he and the mods do a great job in helping this board along in it's journey - and enables us to have the freedom of speech- without having fear of reprisal - as long as the guidelines are met.

so, i for one would like to personally thank you simon - for bringing this board into existence, as it has helped many to be able to vent after leaving the jehovah's witnesses cult, and get support, and for others it has helped them have a great place to discuss many important topics that have a heavy play in many of our lives !

DAMM this beach house

young people really suck the life into you.....and me with a housefull of dfd kids......bonfire.....guitars....and chicks with nipple rings.....whew....life it too good.....can send sunset pics from last night fishing just offshore from the island too.....damm.....just....damm....i am so afraid my jw wife is not going to know what hit her.....kinda like [email protected].

too bad wifey had to do that sad...special assmbly day.......damm.

Anyone heard from Dansk?

i've not been so regularly here lately because of my own health issues but i don't recall seeing our dear friend ian (dansk) lately.

his last post was on march 26 when he wrote:.

i was in hospital for a week, thursday-thursday, so i got home in time for easter.

Hi Ozziepost,

I have just spoken to Claire, Ian's wife, and she says he is ok. He is spending the days at home and nights in hospital so he can have his treatments.

Everything is as expected and there are no more worries than normal .

It is not the place for example, for alcoholics, or for those trying to decide another life-altering experience to be looking for comfort. Very few of us here a professional counsellors

HS on this i totally agree with you. Adivce given here is often of those who share similar experiences. and does offer some measure of support. For those who are need proffesional advice they are often told to go and get it.

am speaking of the very limited support that can be offered on a discussion Board,even if it was designed for this purpose, as this one was not. This is a discussion forum and not real life, private email, or the telephone, where a semblance of less than facile support can be offered.

Thank you for acknowledging my point, this board bears little semblance to its original intention, as can be shown. There is, as you acknowledge limited support and advice given here, but it is as you point out then taken and people heed and act upon it . go to the therapists or obtain education, or whatever.

Yes i know the difference between meeting people in real life and cyberspace. Both have their place .,

I have heeded some of the advice and acted accordingly that is what is about in part,

Many of us have shared our tastes in music and literature, like you HS . This board is more than merely about discussion alone.

But that surely is a whole other thread

If you need emotional support, get professional help, and get it in real life. If you want to impart or receive information, then yes, this Board works well in that regard. Mix the two and you will leave blood on the tracks.

Dear HS,,

For you are held dear here, even you know this not to be true. There is alot of support given here and many of us hav made real frendships with people here. Many of us have met fellow posters.

Yes this board is a discussion board but it has evloved into more than that..

As for me there are certain posters i will not post after because i do not like their manner and or rudeness., that is my choice.

Most are warm and friendly and those like you cognac i will post after.

no matter how much you want to avoid it...crying is necessary sometimes.

for me, i need help with it....too many distractions in my life.

i almost have to plan crying....so for me music aides in releasing emotion, helps me just be me for an interval of time.
