we seem to go thru 'phases' here of 'i'm leaving because the board is changing' threads.
there is certainly a microcosm of social-evolution involved with any structured community, and that evolution may create in certain people a need to 'move on' [though often they are back rather soon after].. my assumption is though - in looking at the past threads and social environment here - that not much has really changed.
there seems to be a flux of energetic change at times.
I have changed more than the board. The reason is simple in the cong I dare not discuss with anyone how i felt as that would be apostasy, and that just for thinking about the things we discuss here!!, They are like the thought police in 1984 by George Orwell. I only dared discuss these things with one very trusted friend in another cong. Now I can have discussions and banter with no fear of reprisals. I trust the people here .As has also been said i love the eclectic nature of people here.

i seemed to have missed some of the excitement from last night.
but i wanted to post my observations.. it seems to me that some have an irrational fear of athiests.
it's as if they fear we are evil people that are out to destroy their faith.

Hi Changeling
I was brought up atheist( one of few things mum and dad agreed upon) became JW, now basically atheist, though i would like to be proved wrong. I think we are a very diverse bunch here. I like to hear brotheraposte's view, and then those who are gay, voideater etcetera.
I missed last night I was here but for some reason missed it.

my mom at 73 is full time pioneering and complaining that many days a week the young couples never show up.
she describes them as having new cars, big houses, and having to both work to maintain their lifestyles.. she mentioned the above statement from the latest co to the congregation.. oh really......!.
i said to her, well none of these people were allowed to get college educations and they are probably earning 10.00 an hour max which goes nowhere.

having believed the whole bible, hook, line and sinker all these years i get the impression many of you have come to the conclusion that we should take it with a pinch of salt and not hold to it so dogmatically.
and some possibly believe in it just as much as you did when you were a witness.
to save me some time please, lovely people, as i am very lazy - could you share with me why you do or don't believe in it - what evidence there is either way and if there are any particular books that you found helpful in coming to your conclusions?

Interesting discussion, I am of the persuasion once burnt twice shied. IE I have burnt once - my choice, so therefore I am very reluctant to trust them again, I would like to believe but see lots of problems and contradiction's everywhere.
