Spoke to my mom who I made watch the NBC news thing. She called another sister who put her husband on the phone (male=smarter than woman) that the society sent a letter out 2 yrs ago about it's the parents duty to call the police. I said "Mother it is the elders that are doing most of it and the kids are afraid to tell....for years". She went to the meeting today and jumped down an elders throught about the society protecting child molesters and stearnly told her "It's the parents job to report it...the society said so" She is not happy with that answer but I am proud that she will cause a showdown at the OK corrall at the meeting. She's pretty gutsy. You know why JW women are not smart enough to be Elders"??????????????????????????Because they don't have a penis to keep their brains in.

and i did see the dateline show about 3 years ago about jw and how the elders in some halls handled it.
i did think the answers were lame on our part.

Watched TV evangelists for the first time today
by shopaholic ini was flipping through the channels while doing cardio and i decided to hear what a couple of these people had to say.
while i've determined that i'm agnostic, this one guy was pretty good...he was practical and funny.
he made the bible seem more like a good self-help book than a "book laws to be obeyed or else you'll die".

A little story about Robert Schuller. He was on a flight my friend was working from LA to Cabo. She said he must have driven 500mph to get from his church that Sunday to make the flight. He bullied the agents into putting him into first class. Once there he demanded white wine and kept demanding refills to the tune of one whole bottle during the boarding process. He never once said thank you. He would ring the call button (he was reading a newspaper) and shake his empty glass at her. Of course Mrs Dr Robert Schuller was not going with him. He has a big boat in Cabo. He went to use the lav up front and as he passed my friend he put his had on her arm by her elbow which ment his knuckles were touching her breast. He said something like, "I hope youre not one of those politcally correct feminsts types are you? She burned holes in him staring him down.
He also was involved on a United flight and slapped a flight attendant because they would not hang his robes where he wanted. He was on Larry King for that one I think with either his son or lawyer.
You simply cannot give humans any position of authority/power/eminance because they become AHs.

I also admire "Mouthy" what a honest, gutsy gal. Actually there are a lotsa gutsy gals (and guys)here.
I left the society years ago but just found this website. I know how you feel. I sometimes let that old, "I am SOOOO from a different planet" because of the jw background. Actually, finding this website was like "making contact".

Did it because I was dragged along as a baby and it was expected. I thought I was looking for lost "sheep". Worked alone alot so that I could pretend I was knocking. Had several studies. vacation pioneered. Really felt it was a huge intrusion for unsuspecting people. Now I have two sheep in my yard. Only $60 and no knocking. Lawnmowers.

Thanks Tom. Leaving the organization without proper support, therapy and probably some drugs can affect you deeply. But then I think back in the day when sisters were always "into" something like "parties...Tupperware, Bake ware, Candle, make-up, vitamins etc. A lot of jws have a lot of issues that they just keep to themselves. I remember the Iradology phase, special Tea phases, millions of dietary phases. Besides trying to make a little money without cleaning someone elses home these women need more than what they are getting.
I joined a children's theatre group, took opera, have a good job. Got a dog. Wish I had this website way back then.
I still feel like an odd one but then that's the way it is.
