Reminds me of an old joke, "Why does the Society treat women like they don't have any brains?.......................................................................................Because they don't have a penis to keep them in."

Women Telling the Good News are a Large Army - Comparing Bible Translations
by ataloa inyears ago when studying for meetings, i used several different translations so i could make a comparison.
i could never find anything to support that one verse.
does anyone have any information on how they arrived at that?

I was about 13 and had been studying with this pioneer woman. Her husband was a elder & pioneer and they both were not having kids in this system. He traveled as guest speaker to different congs and always was saying he was going to share "New Light". They took me to a convention in Spokane, Washington and had a big talk with me about Armeggedon being right around the corner. How scary and horrible peoples deaths will be. Who will be the only ones to survive? Only those in the Great Crowd. How does one identify who is in the Great Crowd? Only those who are baptized. I was baptized the next day. No friends or family. My mom was really pissed about it. Later the couple got pregnant. He later committed adultry, got DFd, divorced her totally devestated her, and remarried a worldly woman. He never looked back. Now he's dead. their son at a very young age married an much, much older sister (as in grandma age) but he's great pals with her son and they are really into Star Trek...they can speak Vulcan. The wife moved and took care of her father until he died. I think she's still in. So basically I was terrified into it.

Does this happen to you?
by dogisgod inlets say you are just happily reading a book or newspaper and on the next page the word "jehovah" will jump out at you (and i mean that it's really there but it just kinda magnifies itself).
samething with kingdumb halls.
you'll be in a foreign community and drive by one and it's like "oh my god, a kingdumb hall!!

What are you talking about? There are assh..es everywhere. You can't escape it. They are at Safeway, Borders, Weight Watchers meetings, on airplanes, sometimes they sneak up and look back at you in a mirror. I just have deep affection for the assho.es here. They have helped me thru a lot of stuff where as the as.holes at the WT inflicted me with "issues". I think this site has the best .ssholes in the universe and will take my stand with them. I hope you do too.

Old JW memories.
by nicolaou inwith all the talk about the book study recently i couldn't help recalling the old 'group' we used to go to from about 1970. i remember the smell of those books, the drone of the study conductor and the struggle - often in vain - to keep my eyes open.. i remember my old ministry briefcase and the kitchen of the sister where we used to meet for field service.
she was my best friends mum.
i can still feel the biting wind at twickenham conventions and the overheated, dehydrating stuffiness of bowes rd assembly hall.. i remember shuffling the snow with my shoes at the doors of homes i didn't want to be at.

We used to have assemblies in high school gyms and those folding benches just killed your butt and no back rests. Guys used to try to look up your dresses. I remember how hot it was at the Pasadena assembly and fainting from heat stroke.

24th Of April- The anniversary of The Armenian Genocide
by justhuman intoday is a day to remember what happened before 93 years in turkey.
over of 1.5 millions armenians were massacred by the turks, in one of the most brudal genocides of the 20th century.
there are no words to describe what savage ways did the turks used against the armenian population.. today 93 years after armenians demand the recognition of the genocide by turkey and international community, the return of the armenians to their ancestral land, and the condemnation and punishment of the crime to prevent the occurance of such crimes in the future.

Did/does your Kingdom Hall have a Spanking Room?
by WilliamCoburn ini was hoping to create a poll but i do not see an option for that.
thank you for taking the time to answer.
this is a very important question for me because of personal reasons.

Welcome. I don't believe there was ever an official "spanking room". It was either a bathroom or library or second school room where you could go and smack you kids privately.

WHAT MADE YOU LEAVE? Doctrine or people?
by chuckyy inhi.. just wondering what made you take the final leap out of the org?
was it doctrinal in that certain things just didnt add up or was it because of the actions of people in the org.
that made you leave?

I'm with layla on this. If most really tried to do the WT thing I probably would have never been jousted into "thinking" about doctrine. Once I was launched I was POd.
