My mother had me study with this pioneer woman. (not the cook on tv) It was in the mid sixties. She asked me who was going to survive Jehovahs day of anger. Answer: only those in the great crowd. How do you become one? Ans....baptism. I was scared enough to get baptized behind my mom's back. She was mad. So don't give your kids to other people.

OK, We Need To Talk About The Crazy New Great Tribulation Video...
by pale.emperor inif you haven't seen it already, skip to 1:14:30 in lloyds video and watch the craziness unfold.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2y7f7-k5wo.
i'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.. they're digging themselves a great hole here, in about 30 years time they'll be claiming this video was a mere "speculation" and that "some people" got the wrong ideas..

Waking up can be a scary time
by Leopold theseconed inas a person that has recently come to terms with the reality that the truth is not really the truth .
does anyone else remember the feeling when they realized things were just not true.
it’s wierd all the years i spent preaching i never really considered what it must have felt like to have two people at your door trying to convince you that your religion of birth was a lie.

I was angry, of course, but mostly at myself for being so gullible. The grief I felt when I lost my god is still kindof raw. And all those bible characters that were "friends" in lieu of all those worldly friends I couldn't have......not real. As the twig is bent so the tree grows. It's just a hard path. There is no fix. You do the best you can.

I attend the Unitarian/Universalist group. There are no official doctrines. I like their community involvement, their inclusivity, I have joined a group working on behalf of climate change. There are some politics due to humans being humans which I avoid. So far so good. They encourage education, involvement, respect and inclusion. I skip December because they do honor different beliefs (without embracing them) and they have Pagan groups that have ceremonies/meetings which I have attended.

So I'm sitting alone in the car with a long time sister. She says, " So, what's going on with Bill and Susan? " Back story. Bill...presiding overseer....yrs ago was a special pioneer and he and sister married-to-someone-else were disfellowshipped for messing with each other. He comes to meeting with family. They are seated and he gets up and stands in the middle of the back holding his Bible. NO ONE speaks to him...ever. Susan is 10 yrs my senior (but much younger than Bill) has a crush on him. Bill is Susans dad's friend and helps with their apts. Susan studies with me for years...my mentor. She marries another guy and they have 3 kids. I marry and we both rent houses with back yards adjoining. Very good friends. Back to present. I am dumbfounded this sister asks me that and I turn red and become uncomfortably hot. I say, "Nothing! He spends time over there because he runs her father's business (he had passed away) and she types the school schedule for him". She says, "do you remember when he and so-and-so had an affair?" "No they didn't. Bill told me it was a big mistake and a circuit overseer offered to exonerate him!" She just looks at me and says, " it was Shirley and I who caught them". Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Unable to process. He would come over almost every day 3 minutes after the girls went to school and leave 3 minutes b4 they came home. For about 10 years. I started seeing things I had not noticed before. like....when she handed him a cup of coffee she would stroke his hand. I stopped going over there. Then the rest of the elders have a talk with him. Apparently her oldest daughter had squeeled. He said they were right and never went there again or spoke to her privately. I have never seen a more heart broken wrecked woman. Everybody kept going to the meetings as usual. He moved away to Hawaii. She never was the same. Ever.

"Never stop your enemy when he's making a mistake" - Napoleon
by JeffT inso yesterday when i went to the library there were three older gentlemen in suits standing around the front door.
i spotted the stand with the magazines a second or two later.
they were talking among themselves, totally ignoring everybody walking past them.

I remember my mom taking me to stand on the corners in San Pedro with that canvass bag holding the magazines around her neck. She spoke to all who dared to make eye contact. This "cart" is the beginning of the end. What the borg is loosing is the ability to motivate people to really preach. The rank and file do not study like in the past, they don't have the exposure to the mind set by the former 5 meetings/week. I don't believe they have the ability, training, knowledge or motivation to preach like in the past. Just a public exposure to keep their tax free statis until they roll up the carpets.
