As an ex JW, why do many of you support Iraq war?
by dawg ini'm not trying to make anyone mad here, but you ex -jws were raised in a cult similar to the shiria schools run by imams in the middle east... difference is, these schools are much harsher than the jws.
most of you've had little succes getting your familys out of this cult (the jws) but have somehow bought into the idea that democracy will help stop radical thinking in the musliem world-that spreading democracy in the middle east will somehow stop radical thinking; ignoring the fact that syria, iran and others are already democracies of sorts.
there are 1.5 billion musliems in the world; just like christianity has it's radicals, so does islam, most aren't radical, most aren't hard core terror supporting fools, but some are... they're everywhere, including asian countries which are democracies.

STOP THE MADNESS....where is this board going?
by SnakesInTheTower ini've only posted since feb 07..but i have lurked for several years prior and there was usually something interesting on the board.
as i was reading the active topics list this morning, only a couple things jumped out at me as interesting...its been this way since the dgate and tgate incidents.... i was discussing this with a long time poster via im yesterday....does it seem to anyone else that so many of the topics are ...i dont know....odd...or different than they used to be...and i dont mean that in a good way.. i miss the newbies coming on and telling us their stories.... i miss the long time posters updating us on their lives post-borg... i guess with the recent uproar, the lurkers are hesitant to become newbies (cant say as i blame them now...we probably scared them off , and maybe the vets are just as hesitant...after all, someone went 2 years with their fraud/hoax...who will believe anyone else now?
i hope this is just a temporary cycle on this board..i have read many many posts from the archives...i hope one day soon we can get back to a happy medium here.. by the way, i like the fluff threads, but these seem to be more and more sex related (maybe that word will wake someone)... yet they get all the attention....and then someone goes too far and it gets locked down by a mod and the poster restricted......(i am not a prude...just sometimes enough is enough).

I agree with FreedomFrog. I am fairly new here and have a strong "clique" feeling. Sorry, I am only being honest.
As for the thread subjects...well, it is a public forum. Some people come up with very serious threads. Then, some decide to lighten up things a little. But altogether, I believe there is a good balance.

The issue is control
by CHILD inafter over 18 years in the organiation, i finally grew up.
as a grown up, i am able to make my own decisions and take responsibility for what i believe.
the flip-flopping of the wts is dangerous to itself.

Welcome to the forum, CHILD...
It is not only about control. It is also about dictatorship and censorship altogether.
I am sorry. An organisation who tells me I cannot surf the internet, or I cannot read a certain book, or I cannot do certain things in bed even with a spouse, only to name a very few...well...I soon have to draw my own conclusion. People in communist countries have more freedom than JWs.
Keep reading on this forum. Keep searching. Read the book Crisis of Conscience. You will be amazed at your discoveries.
God bless~

one word to describe me
by Hortensia ini thought crumpet's thread was really interesting and that everyone was really supportive in their answers.
then i thought about what words would describe me - i imagine lots of folks thought that.
i used to have in my profile "short fat ugly old and mean" which was a joke but offended someone...currently i would described myself as tired and a little crabby and inclined to be unsympathetic, which was always my husband's complaint about me anyway.

Do tattoos hurt?
by coolhandluke inyes they do and i'm looking forward to it.
i tracked down the guy who started some work on my back and i'm going to finish part of it this weekend.
the tat started as a take on ying and yang and the idea that things come full circle.

Do you think God is a Liar?
by BONEZZ ini've struggled with trying to believe in a god since i left the fold.
i've been indoctrinated by dubizm for most of my life and more and more it all seems pretty incredulous.
the latest lady liberty post about adam caused a lightbulb to go off...and i know you'll let me know if i'm wrong in my assessment.. all my life i've heard, "god cannot tell a lie" and "the bible is true.

At this point, I have no idea if God is a liar or not.
But I know with CERTAINTY that his organisation is the pits!!!

I just read The Sole Purpose of the Society, according to Fred Franz.
Actually I read too much today. I am upset like I have never been in my life. But I digress...
All I care to say right now...if THIS is the sole purpose of the Society, they should close shop and stop breaking hearts and lives and families in the name of the almighty Jehovah!
Those people will have to pay for all this one day. BIG TIME!

Do you ever get nausea when encountering JW stuff
by Sirona ini thought after 7 years out i had done a pretty good job of getting my mind free of the jws.. then yesterday i went on youtube and typed in jehovah's witness.
after watching a few apostate videos, i came across a pro-jw video of a convention.
as i started the video and they started singing "we thank you jehovah" i got a mega wave of nausea and felt like i had to switch the thing off.. has this happened to you?

I should put up a no jw's sign
Yes indeed. My own study conductor told me last week that they still knock at doors with a "No soliciting" sign. Because they are not selling anything {now that they don't ask anything for the publications} They are only offering the good news.
I thought..."sure. another nice twist on words."
