Yup, NO FUN....lasted 2 weeks before a pharmacist who saw me limping said to "tell my DR. to prescribe Colchicine...should be gone in 24 hours". I wanted to KILL the DR. for not prescribing it already...next day went to a walk-in clinic...the Doc said "why didn't he give you colchicine...it would be gone in 24 hours?" DUH! 24 hours later it was gone.....Indomethicine, Motrin, Advil...no help! Cherry juice didn't work for me either...I searched the net and the PDR....The Allopurinol my Dr. gave me for high uric acid actually triggered the 1st attack!!
I asked him about that...the PDR states it...he said "Yeah, it can do that!"....Anytime I feel the big toe joint start to stiffen up...I take a little magic colchicine pill and I never get an attack...I drink all I want...eat whatever...haven't had another attack in 8 years!! Haven't forgiven that first Dr.

I'm not from there...but ..I have had the privilege of visiting Hawaii numerous times...the last several I went to the Big Island on purpose...I love it better than any of the others!! I haven't been to Molikai yet though....Anyway....Kailua-Kona is where I prefer to go...International fishing tournements go right out of the harbor...(But the BEST fishing is out of Quepos, Costa Rica!! The 2 of us caught 9 Pacific Sailfish the 1st day out!!! average 6' to 8 '. And a Blue Marlin....350 lbs.) But...the Big Island is the most diverse of all the islands...
Kailua-Kona averages 6-10 inches of rain a year... the other side, Hilo, gets over 100 inches...you can go SNOW skiing on one end of the Island and walk up to HOT lava on the other end. The largest cattle ranch in the U.S. is in Waimea. Numerous waterfalls...Akaka Falls in Hilo is great!....But I go to the Big Island for the SCUBA DIVING...If you haven't tried it...at least go for an introductory dive....I love diving with the sea turtles and manta rays...exploring the lava tubes underwater...a bazillion tropical fish and unlimited visibility! I got a kick out of touring the Mona-Loa Macadamia nut factory not far from Kona...and the KONA coffee plant...
Sorry, I'm rambling. I love Kona...so if I can answer any questions...just PM me...Dave

BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?
by Black Man ini often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

I just have to jump in...I was served at Bethell from '69 - '72...I managed to get on the inside track so much so , that I KNEW it was a plastic sham in my early 20's....but still played the game until I was 47 YEARS OLD!! Someone commented about how many ex-bethelites were on here....If you had half a brain...it only took a few weeks to see through the smoke and mirrors program...Oh, I remember names....when I got there I made it a purpose to know all 750 NAMES and faces of the ones there at that time, because DAVE MADSEN knew them all....so did GMC...(George Couch) whom I had to work with very closely for 2 1/2 years....and Dan Molchan...and Barry Hoyle...( or Hairy Boil as he was more correctly known)... Yup, the McCumbers were there..(.He actually whistled "we're Jehovah's Witnesses when playing a tournament so those in the "know" would 'know')....Before I left (Doc Dixson said it was OK...cause the food there was not good for most people to eat!!!...HONEST! He told me not tell ANYONE....but he wouldn't eat there either!!!) My working 119 hours a week couldn't have had anything to do with it!!! DUH!
I'm sorry...I could tell stories and name names...but that's not what the question was..I love to hear about others in my era who woke up!!

2008 marks 10 years.
by free2beme inmy wife and i actually started to fade a little in 1997, but 1998 in january was our last attended meeting.
i gave a talk at the service meeting and looked out at all these people i knew were phony, listened to what i was saying and knew it was all lies and realized i never got over the change in the generations change in 1995 and had gone downhill from there.
i got off the stage, and the meeting ended and i got the typical pat on the backs for a good talk they never listened too anyway.

I . too, celebrate 10 years this year. My wife of 25 years left me in "97 because the ELDER who was hustling her said it was OK to leave if she wasn't happy.....
(Bi-Polar ,,,on PROZAC...been to every witness NATURE PATH in 200 miles...but he's the expert...) I still haven't had the chance to THANK him!!! I never went back to a single meeting!! Took me a while to get my head right...partied for 2 years!! Now, realize....I was raised in the "TRUTH"...HA!
Anyway....turned down 3 scholarships and served ( or was served) at BETHEL. Also "served" as an elder for 7 years.....Gave up normal opportunities for advancement in the real world to "serve" where the great was needed!! I didn't fade ...I just never went back!!...After 47 years....WOW1 What a crock of shit!
Not one of them ever came to "check" on me or "sheperd" me....They know I would have blown them out of the water...chickens....Isn't the smell of freedom GREAT??

mentalclearness: Did you even read what you said? You disproved the "point" you were trying to make...."bunch of witnesses" is NOT going to change the
earned reputation...just like your examples....

The only three reasons to miss a meeting?
by outofthebox insetting: sunday talk.
brother giving the talk (bgtt): 'a co told me' (he said that as in god told me), 'the only three reasons for missing a meeting are...' (drum roll) ... 'the three fs'.. me (thinking): wtf?

Garybuss: I hope EVERYONE got the points you made so clearly.....You understand the SALES program the WBTS subscribes to!!! We're all sales
people!......Remember from sales class # 101....salesmen are the easiest sale ... or the hardest! Some believe everything you say...the others need "convincing"...
(heavy on the "con"). The strategies all MEGA corporations use are the same...IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! I saw it first hand!!! I had it explained to me, in
detail, by the ones who did the "mils of a cent" accounting....(anyone remember Harold Dies or Dean Songer?.... DUH?) One of my best friends recently remarked
after serving in Bethel and everywhere the GREAT was NEEDED...." They could have been great!...They coud have been the next MICROSOFT!! " I layghed my ass
off! He really got it ! DO YOU ???

Personal feelings from responses from former Congregations/Bethelites
by What-A-Coincidence ini spent 10 years in bethel.
my only "friends" were bethelites and congregation members.
i left bethel 2 years ago and underwent a thorough investigation of the 'truth' without the so called blinders.

Congratulations on taking CONTROL of your own life!,,,,You are in charge of your thinking! 'It's not what happens to you...It's how you resond to it!!" After 47 years of the BS...Bethel, Elder, Circuit and District resppnsibilities...I've been breathing Clean air for 10 years....When someone says " How ya doin'?" I say I get better every day!!".....or they say " Have a nice day!"....I say " I ALWAYS do!!"....I mean it ...no BS.. I control my day...someone can ruin or spoil THEIR day...NOT MINE!
It"s about personal choice...you are in control...you can't do anything about yesterday...might as well have a good time today! All of this is contrary to what you've been programmed to do for years....That's why the air of freedom smells so clean and fresh...you're off the leash!!! RUN....ENJOY.

Where are the ex-bethelites?
by betty boop inhi everyone, its betty .
i was just wondering if theyre are any bethelites who were in brooklyn in the late 90's-2003?
i knew a lot of guys there when i was still in the borg.

Well, I wasn't there during the dates you're looking or, but, I could go on for hours....as have other ex-Bethelites...I'm not exactly a true conformist...so it didn't take but a few MINUTES to understand that $ 14.00 does not buy a months worth of BEER....I was there in '69 - 72!/2 ...came in the week of the 'HOMO CLEAN-UP"....they missed a few!
One of the things I did there required me to go to EVERY Bethel office /Dept. in the home 4x a day and the factory 2x a day...Inter-dept correspondence, they called it...WOW! heard and saw a lot...also got alot of contacts for g-jobs...I kind of went overboard for outside work...I worked more hours outside than in...for a few years I averaged 119 hours a week!! Had 19 Bethelites working for me! I drove a '69 Mustang Boss 302...had NO bethel furmiture in my room....nice bar and living room furniture....NO BEDS!...Why SLEEP? when you can work?.. Anyway I'll spend some time in the future on some stories..( I was actually in the Writing Dept. delivering mail when Dunlap was arguing over the time lines WTBS was using and what he found)...Used to play basketball with Ray Franz...Was friends with Dan Sydlik...I still have a painting he did for me..Lots more in the future...gotta go to work!!!!!

Is Smoking the practice of Spiritism?
by freedomfighter inhi guys,.
i was raised as a jw and was baptised when i was 16. i am now 35 and have finally realised that "the truth" is actually the opposite.. my family has a long history of mental illness and i am "lucky" to only suffer deppression and panic attacks.i believe what i was taught as truth has effected me adversely.
e.g " you won't have to go to school son, armageddon will be here before then.

Congratulations! You immediately realized they are control freaks...and hypocrites!! Do you know how many witnesses "in good standing" smoke?? You would be suprised...or maybe not, anymore. I know an elder in excellent standing in the district and circuit around here that still uses "pot" !! I had to kick 4 Bethelites out of my room at Bethel when they decided to have their cigar tasting party in my room at the Towers. I didn't object to their smoking...I just didn't need the extra "attention" to my room at that time...Usually they went to the 'Steak and Brew" downtown for their cigar fests...Anyway...you will feel better and mentally healthier every day that you're away from them...
Relax...breath deep...keep them out of your life and out of your MIND...Welcome!
