you may recall that sometime ago i posted an information about it.. jacques lejeunes case, ex jw, who had won an appeal against the adverse second level judgment, will be heard for the last time in front of the mons court on october 18th.. this case is emblematic as it is the first time that the violation of human right against the wt will be heard.. jacques is determined to go to the european court of human rights if this last case will end up in favor of the wt.. whoever wants to join me in attending the trial in support of jacques is welcome.. believe that jacques deserves this support.. the case will be heard on october 18th at 2 p.m. and is planned to last 4 hours.
both jacques and the wt have already presented their memorandum which is available online on my website, but in french only.

To answer one of the questions asked, reading through the court documentation and after having personally discussed the case with Jacques himself, the issue is not about the disfellowshipping itself, which any religious and non-religious organization can practice, but about the ostracism taught and imposed by the WT on its members, ostracism or discrimination which goes against Human Rights.
In Europe, the question of Human Rights is taken very seriously.
In this case, the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights violated by the WT are, in particular, the following:
Article 18.
· Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
Article 19.
· Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
In reality, if one examines thoroughly the internal regulations, practices and teachings of the WT in the light the Charter of the Human Rights one would immediately discover that the WT violates at least 10 of the 30 articles of the Charter.

European Court to favor the WT and condemns the French goverment

unfortunately, the european court of human rights has just condemned the french government against jehovahs witnesses.
if you recall, the french state was claiming 23 million euro (abt 33 million us dollars) taxes on contributions received by the french watchtower during the years 1993-96, which, by now, had climbed to about 58 million euro (abt 83 million us dollars) counting interests and charges.. it is not easy to size the wt.

Unfortunately, the European Court of Human Rights has just condemned the French Government against Jehovah’s Witnesses. If you recall, the French State was claiming 23 million Euro (abt 33 million US Dollars) taxes on contributions received by the French Watchtower during the years 1993-96, which, by now, had climbed to about 58 million Euro (abt 83 million US Dollars) counting interests and charges.
It is not easy to size the WT. Specially not this time when the French WT Branch has used the religious discrimination to ghost to benefit from the tax exemption. Religious discrimination which they claim for them, but negate to their members in particular those who decide to leave the cult.

) with the un.. anyone of you heard about this earlier?

Both ways of spelling the word, the “single p” and the “double p” versions, seems to be correct.
Looking up the word in the WT the 2010 LIB CD-ROM, I discovered that the Watchtower magazine used, up to December 1981, the “single p” (269 times) version but since July 1982, privileged the “double p” (231 times) version.
Can anyone know, or at least guess, why they changed?
Another strange fact, using Google search, is that the word seems to be used mainly within the Watchtower context than any other single one:
- “single p” version: 10600 times, of which 6560 times in a Watchtower context
- “double p” version: 91900 times, of which 68199 times in a Watchtower context
Criterion used to isolate the “Watchtower context” in Google: “-Jehovah –Watchtower –JW”
What motivated this change by the WT in 1982?
Why only Jehovah’s Witnesses seem to be obsessed by this word?Roberto.
P.S.
For your info, my curiosity sparkled while I was translating an article on JW from Italian to English, and I had to make a choice between the two versions.
I elected to use the "double p" version, which seems to be used mostly by the general public, and, since 1982, by the WT.
