I was six years old when this article came out. I remember being told I wouldn't graduate high school in this system. I'm now 50, on the downward slide of growing old. So glad I got out of this cult relatively young while still in my 30s.
I'm curious, has the society ever officially made any comments about this particular article? It seems pretty damning.
hello all, from a newbie.. i haven't been inside a kingdom hall since 1999, so i'm not up to speed with "organizational" stuff.
i still get curious, though, since my mom and sister are still active witnesses (but don't communicate with me).
the other day, an old friend from my former congregation (she's the wife in the only family who will still talk with me, even though i was never df'd) came by the house, i assume while making a return visit.

My good friend and coworker, American like myself, went to Iran last year for a visit and loved it. He's planning to return at the end of the year to study Farsi and possibly teach English.

it all seems so playful and cutsie wootsie to an insider i suppose, i am seeing posts all over facebook about how this is just what my kid needs.. this is truly proper food at the proper time blah blah blah blomit blomit vomit vomit... the funniest part is however is that it cuts out at the end by saying "let's practice what you are going to say".. .
why not make the video longer and discuss how you can get an idea for a 6 year old on how to talk to a grown person about how they are going to die unless you study the bible with me..

I would venture to say that shunning has just the opposite effect for the majority of us. Why in the world would I want to go back to a religion that promotes the cultlike cutting off of family?
And at this point, taking into account what I've learned about the organization since leaving, even if family weren't shunned there's no way I'd go back.
