Sadly enough though, we don't have that [GLSEN or PFLAG] chapter for gays that Anne was talking about. I live in a conservative town, not to mention state. But thank you all, I will be sure to keep posting and getting to know you good people.
Damn, that really is too bad. At least there is online support ... there is even a Yahoo list for GLBT X/JW's!

I would rather deal with the thought of never loved.
The problem with never having been loved is that you have no proof that you are lovable! And the conviction that they are unlovable has driven many to suicide. I've flirted with suicidal thoughts. I don't recommend it.
But I have loved and lost. Yes, the pain of loss was deep. But I've had other, equally true, loves to help me over it, so I can say: I wouldn't have missed it. She was a soulmate, too.

*many* ex-jws say that they were robbed of an education due to the wtbts and as a result, they feel that their families and the wt screwed up their life by depriving them of the opportunity to go to college and therefore, earn a high salary at a job they love.
here is a link to the us census which shows that approximately 26% of the us population graduates college.

OK, I've been thinking about this intermittently for the past five years or so.
To get a degree that would make me a Pile-O-Money would require four to six years of full-time study -- if I want it in time to build a career on it. (I'll be 49 in February.) If I could figure out how to support my family for 4 years, I might go for it.
Or I could take ten or twelve years to get a degree, but by then I'd be about sixty, close to retirement age. Too late for it to hike my income, probably, but taking my time and paying as I go would actually put that diploma within reach.
So I might as well get that degree in something that actually fascinates me, right?
Right. So, by the time I'm sixty, maybe I'll have a master's degree.

the wts feels that they are the true religion because they place tons of literature based on their own interpretations and because they show true christian love for one another.
