I agree that getting rid of a lot of that old crap is therapeutic, but I would recommend keeping the 1968,and 1984 Watchtower bound volumes, "The Nations Shall Know" and "Live Forever" books. And any Awake mag from the 1985-1995.
You never know when an unsuspecting dub will come to your door and you will be armed with provable lies from there own literature and you might be able to free them. Gone

On Saturday... I decided to dump all my literature
by tak init felt good!
i took that huge plastic bin that contained multiple copies of all the books given out by the society, all the old wt and awake's that i had, the year books, etc..... and threw into the city dump.
my boyfriend thought i should maybe bring the literature back to them and i said "hell no.... so they can give it out to more innocent people.. he agreed.

1914- What's the big deal if it's the wrong date?
by cognac ini hear it a lot on this board that the 607 date is wrong... i figured that out while i was a jw... never really thought much about it though.
just thought, ok, if it's wrong then everything is moved up about 20 or so years.... and for that matter, why is it such a big deal to the society?
why can't they just fix the date so it's right.

Remember also, 1914 was the start of WW1. The society points to this as fulfillment of Matt. 24.1934 was a year of no real major world events, so it would be very difficult to say Christ returned then with no major event to prove it. Gone

Why don't the stones cry out?
by allreadygone injesus said at luke 19:40 "if these remained silent the stones would cry out" .
my question is why don't the stones cry out in areas where the preaching work is banned or has very few witnesses?
both india and china have populations in excess of 1 billion people, but very very few dubs to spread the "good news".

You know the conversion rate would be near 100% if a rock began telling of an impending doom. Hell I bet everyone on JWD would go back to the meetings if a stone told you to. Gone -

You hear Fleetwood Mac sing "Tell me Lies tell me sweet little lies" and can only think of WTBTS.

What was it that "clicked" w/ you that this wasn't the "true religion"?
by cognac infor me, it was not being able to prove that people were going to be resurrected to earth... i'm still not sure of the answer, but for some reason that just started this huge, fast snowball of different things that i couldn't prove... .
this lightbulb just went off in my head... .

For me, it was the failed prophecies, specifically The "Generation" 0f Matthew 24. When the "Generation" that was not going to pass away, turned 80, I really started thinking for the first time that something is not right. If it really is the truth, then it should be able to be proven, no matter what the source of research is. Once you allow yourself a chance to THINK, it doesn't take long to realize that it is a religion based on fear and lies. And this just doesn't reconcile with a God of love and truth. Gone

Birthdays are now a matter of conscience????
by sacrebleu ini just heard this.
i can't believe it.
does anyone know if this is true?.

It is OK to celebrate the birth, just not the anniversary of the birth. We would not want our kids to think they are special even for one day. This cult really knows the way to mind control. I think we all need to tell them to go F#*k OFF and keep there noses out of our consciences. Gone

Ideas to help w/ Still-believing mates
by FreeWilly ini've been reading alot of posts about spouses trying to get through to their mates still in dubville - with mixed results.
it seems to go like this: after some internal questioning the exiting mate shares what they learn with the stilladub mate.
at first the stilladub mate may be receptive and even share some of their own doubts and unresolved questions.

Hope4others Nice post. I could not agree more. My wife is hanging on to the Borg. like an old security blanket. She thinks that outside the Borg. everyone is a liar or an adulterer. So when I show her quotes from the literature that are proven lies she is speechless. Gone

So just what or who DO you have faith in now?
by oompa ini never used to wonder about death, or what comes after, because i had all the answers!
but now i really wonder, but not with fear....it feels odd, and i am curious.
this planet and universe are so incredible and complex that to me it defies logic that someone must have had a creative hand it.

I have faith that come April 15th I will write the IRS another very large check, and I will do this every year until I die.
