the bible says the 144000 would be the first fruits.

witnesses have interpetted that over .

and over as meaning that the first 144000 to accept christ would be his bride.

Memorial attendance in 1925 was around 90,000 But I guess since they have changed about every teaching since then, they did not have the TRUTH so were not really annointed. Same for all those poor christians in the last 2000 years who gave there life for God. What makes a real member of the 144,000 is your ability to swallow the currant red Kool-Aid Gone

Sad really, your old friend sounds as though she is very intelligent, just very very brain washed.

She could really add a lot to society if she could only apply a small amount of critical thinking.
It does really come down to only one question: Would god use any religion to represent him that has LIED in his name over and over and over again.

I am sorry for your lost friendship, but conditional friends are easy to find, true friends are forever.

folks are about as happy as they decide to be.. looking on the bright side of life gives you more of a foothold when things go awry.

nurturing hope builds a foundation for you which enables you to save for tomorrow and build toward the future and hang on when things get tough.. people dig their own graves when they become pessimists.

"why bother" replaces "that's worth a try!".

Before I reply to your post let me say THANK YOU for all you have done for me personally! You do not know me, yet so many things you have written have given me a new life based on truth.

I recently was talking to an Elder who works for our company. He was complaining as usual about how bad "this old system" is and how much worse things are now than at any time in world history.

I replied, Wow have you ever read anything about world history? Cause I dont know about you, but the Dark Ages seemed a whole lot worse than than now. I mean,really half of Europe died of the Plague! A disease that was eradicated in the 20th century thanks to modern medicine.

He looked at me like I had 3 heads. Total disconnect. Sick really.

i've always wanted to ask this question to those that have decided to leave the organization.. what will you do when the great tribulation begins?.

right now folks, a lot is happening in the political world.. gordon brown (prime miniter of england) last week gave a speech to the un stating that it is time for the un to step in and solve the world's problems, (specifically mentioning the economy and hunger crisis worldwide.).

barrack obama is shaping up to be the next president, a fellow who sure knows how to persuade and lead great crowds.

We all thought the world was about to end and it was our personal responsibility to warn the wicked. But if you will allow your self to do even a small amount of CRITICAL thinking you will find you have been lied to in the worst possible way. 1. Why would a loving God destroy BILLIONS of people who have never even heard of Jehovah's Witnesses? 2. Why would a loving God use any group of people to warn of impending doom, that has LIED as much as the WTB&TS? Who would believe them? Check there record its very easy. If he really just wanted to have the witnesses survive, why not just allow non believers to die naturally but not be able to reproduce.The wage sin pays is death. it seems that the watchtower society was very ill prepared for the advent of the internet.

perhaps, some of the governing body thought the end would come before it became a big problem.

now it is a big problem and is only going to get worse.

It is ironic that a religion that calls it self "THE TRUTH", is trying so very very hard to keep its members from learning the truth about things its said, and its failed prophecies.
I would guess that most here on this site, have learned the truth about the truth from the internet. And the most damaging evidence of lies and deception come from there own publications.
If not for many well read so called apostates spending hundreds of hours researching past publications and magazines, and then posting them on the internet. Many of us here would have never learned the real truth.
So I as one say THANK YOU INTERNET and APOSTATES for setting me free! And AL Gore.

On Saturday... I decided to dump all my literature

it felt good!

i took that huge plastic bin that contained multiple copies of all the books given out by the society, all the old wt and awake's that i had, the year books, etc..... and threw into the city dump.

my boyfriend thought i should maybe bring the literature back to them and i said "hell no.... so they can give it out to more innocent people.. he agreed.

I agree that getting rid of a lot of that old crap is therapeutic, but I would recommend keeping the 1968,and 1984 Watchtower bound volumes, "The Nations Shall Know" and "Live Forever" books. And any Awake mag from the 1985-1995.
You never know when an unsuspecting dub will come to your door and you will be armed with provable lies from there own literature and you might be able to free them. Gone

1914- What's the big deal if it's the wrong date?

i hear it a lot on this board that the 607 date is wrong... i figured that out while i was a jw... never really thought much about it though.

just thought, ok, if it's wrong then everything is moved up about 20 or so years.... and for that matter, why is it such a big deal to the society?

why can't they just fix the date so it's right.

Remember also, 1914 was the start of WW1. The society points to this as fulfillment of Matt. 24.1934 was a year of no real major world events, so it would be very difficult to say Christ returned then with no major event to prove it. Gone
