Next week-end, I will attend the thrid (and last) workshop of this trilogy.
At the end of the second workshop we were running out of time and agreed to postpone it to a third workshop.
And: this time my wife will accompany me. I really excited if she will like it.
As stated above: esp. the first workshop helped me A LOT in leaving the cult.

Too Good To Be True Yearbook Experiences
by Nosferatu inallright everyone, do you remember some of the yearbook experiences, or yearbook worthy ones about how a bible study was started?
then you get jws trying to copy the examples, such as pretending to read an awake magazine on a bus, hoping someone will ask, "what are you reading that's so interesting?
" or leaving tracts in chain link fences, hoping someone will pull it out and look at it.. give some of the lame experiences you've heard, you've experienced, or make one up.

On German ex-JW-board at http://infolink-forum.de/ member Ottonio referred to an experience found in the Yearbook 1996, p.7. It is claimed that the chief of a school in Napoli led by an Benedictinian-order ordered 350 Kingdom-News-tracts to distribute among the pupil's parents at an event.
The Italian paper Il Mattino checked the story and could neither find the school nor parents that would prove that story. When the paper approached the JW author, a guy named Carmine di Matteo, he stated that after all it was not the city of Napoli but Salerno and that it was not the order of Benedictinian but of Franciscan.
So much for Yearbook "experiences too good to be true...

Identity Cards ... good or bad idea?
by Simon inone of the questions in the uk at the moment is whether we shoudl have identity cards or not.. the government, who wants them, claims they will "help to prevent terrorism".
spain and the usa both have identity cards and they have had big terrorist attacks.
it's never been explained exactly how they will stop terrorists.. my personal opinion is that they are just another government play to control people, another form of tax (you can bet it will cost us to get them) and i have my doubts as to whether the government could run a large scale it project of that magnitude (given it's track record) and whether the estimated 3bn won't end up many years late and at least 10bn over-budget.

Compare this with the very real danger of governments using ID cards to track and even round up people it dislikes. Don't believe me? Look at the countries that have them and they have traditionally been very strict, authoritarian regimes (Russia, China ...
USA*).Imagine what Nazi Germany would bave done had they been able to identify Jews much more easily ?!
We in Germany have them, too and we have to carry it anywhere we go. I personally do not have problem with it, it is an easy way to identify myself when starting an account or similar things.
But wait when they start join ID cards with RFID. Then "they" actually know where you are at any given time.
BTW, the Nazis had a lot of administration. For example, all jews had to put a yellow star onto their cloths. There was something called "Arish Passport" that certified "how much jew" was in you. Imagine they had our IT equipment back then.

The PBI was started when Rutherford ousted his fellow directors in 1918. They are closer to Russell's original Bible Students than to todays JW.

OHappyDay, I know a JW that did exactly that: he had a good job, built two houses and drove a Mercedes and never pioneered.
BTW, he was an Elder, District Convention Overseer and was always invited to the Society's Annual Meeting.
I guess he waits on Jehovah, too. -

At one of my last talks - TMS or Announcement, I do not really remember ;-) - I had drunk some wine and was not really sober. I do not know if anyone noticed. But I remember that my wife shook her head. :-)
It was at a hard time when I had to make that decision to leave. But somehow I did not really cared if they noticed my "spirit". ;-) -

Yesterday night, Eminem was at a German TV show. He said several cusswords and showed his white, naked buttom several times. :-)
The host asked him if it was possible to do that in the US as well. He said: "No." Then the host said: "This is what we call a free country." and explained that they would not cut it out - which they actually did not.
Also after Janets "Nipplegate" I am surprised what problems the US people have with a naked body while you can refer to "free speach" to spread Nazi propaganda.
I send my regards from the Land of the Free. ;-) -

There was this old strange JW sister that hosted the CBS when I was a 6-year-old or so. She always invited people that were even stranger than she to the CBS and they actually came. She was a victim of theft more than once.
She told me that she had encountered demons like someone ringing at her door without a head. Impressed me much as a kid. Well, at least I still remember.
