Although it's never announced WHY someone was DF, you can usually find out from any gossip queen why they were DF.

Were U Surprised When Certain People Left The Organization?
by minimus inwhen certain "pillars" left the fold, were you shocked?

I was surprised when certain people were DF, but it wasn't because they were leaving the bOrg. They committed adultery, or some other sin, but after a while were soon re-instated.
I'm still surprised that I left. Me, out of the whole freakin' family. Yet no one approaches me to find out what's going on, or what made me question everything. I guess keepin' up with the bOrg is more important for my family.

People who would never have been born...if the WTBTS was right!
by gaiagirl ini watched several movies this week, and afterwards, i was thinking about how many performers in those movies would never have been born if armageddon had come in the fall of 1975 as advertised.
stardust featured clare danes and charlie cox, both born long since 1975. resident evil: extinction featured milla jovovitch, whose birthday is actually in december 1975, but it is likely that her parents would have already been dead by then, as they aren't witnesses.
anyone else have favorite people (actors or not) who would not have been born if 1975 had lived up to the big buildup?

Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca.. they wouldn't have been born.. Oh wait, are we talking about real people only?

Can someone explain Paradise earth for me.
by Guest with Questions inmy mother has brought up this issue a few times lately and i'm a bit confused.
actually she says she's confused about it and doesn't know what to believe; that what she reads in the bible contradicts what the elders say.. she said that if you die before armegeddon you become an angel, so i assume that they will never marry or have children?
if you and your current spouse both survive armegeddon you continue to be married and have children?.

I used my brain for once and read the Bible without the WT mags, and now I'm having trouble figuring out where it specifically states that there's a Paradise on Earth, too... Anyone find that scripture yet?

They Can't Admit They're Wrong ...
by compound complex inas 1975 approached, we began to hear the preliminary murmurs of denial from the society rather than any honest admissions or apologies for their dreadful mistake.
finally, i remember sitting at the watchtower study one sunday listening to the brothers and sisters parroting the information from the study article and innocently taking all of the blame for misinterpreting what the society had said about 1975. it was the first of several occasions when i longed to jump up from my seat, run to the podium, and argue for the apparently forgotten truth.
instead, i sat there and thought how much the society was like the scribes and pharisees in jesus dayburdening the people with heavy loads that they were not willing to budge with their finger (matthew 23:4).

The GB are all captivated and enslaved by a myth, a concept. They'll never admit they're wrong because they don't believe they're wrong. Anything can be written away at the flick of a pen. Look at 1925, 1975, the 1914 Generation, everything they have taught has failed and been dismissed as if it never happened.
I feel sorry for the people still enslaved. They keep waiting and hoping for something, anything to happen... So sad...

Blood question
by civicsi00 ini just had a thought about something... does anyone remember the text where jesus cured someone on the day of the sabbath and the pharisees got mad at him for doing that, on the day that no one is supposed to do anything?
because, if i remember correctly, jesus then corrected them and stated that it was better to help save a life than to obey every letter of the law.
where i'm going with this is, can't this scripture apply to the watchtower when denying someone a blood transfusion?

The reason I posted this topic was because of this:
I have a sister-in-law who just had a baby a couple of weeks ago. A couple of days after she had the baby, she was still in pain and it turns out that she has a tumor on her pancreas. The surgery is now set for next week. She is a Witness, but is not familiar with all of the complicated "you can have these fractions, but not these". But the interesting part was this: She mentioned just the other day that she was having blood drawn out to keep it stored, in case she needed it for the surgery. Well, my wife told her that the WT forbids that. She then said, "Well that's stupid, I'm not going to listen to them if they tell me that!". The whole point is, I'm trying to reach her and reason with her with the Bible that life is more precious than following some rule or law. I'm also trying to reason with her that the WT does not have all the answers, and we can't rely on it for our future. You guys have given me some valuable information. I'm going to talk to her about it soon. The timing hasn't been right so far. Her parents (my in-laws) are always with her, and they're loyal to the WT, so anything I say would just end up in a heated debate. I'm just waiting for the right time to approach her with this information.
Thanks again everyone...

new BS assignment, new threats.
by inkling inok, so after about 2 months of straight absence from my bookstudy, the elders shuffled me off.
apparently my current (actually quite kind, if a bit clueless) bs overseer was.
not being enough of a nazi.. my newly assigned bs has a (aforementioned in another post) dimwitted, socially obtuse, and.

Eh, just ignore 'em. Eventually they'll give up. They're too busy running the business to keep up with one employee.
If you still need to be present at the meetings (for family or whatever), just show up late and leave the KH early. That's what my wife and I used to do when we were fading. Don't worry about the threats, just make something up and move on.

UK Charity Law Changes
by Paddington Bear inyou may or may not be aware but the charites act 2006 is now in force and it means that from end 2007 charites (including the jw's) will have to proove that they offer public benefit if they are to still retain their charitable status and in turn get gift aid on nearly every single donation and keep their tax exempt status.. the charity law association made some very interesting comments regarding the witnesses in their memorandum that was submitted in evidence to the joint commitee on the draft charites bill.
their comments on the taylorite sect of the exclusive brethren "excluding children from the family home" is also quite relevant.
this is only enidence from an outside body but it shows things could change.. http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/jt200304/jtselect/jtchar/167/4061625.htm.

Interesting development. But you guys forget that the WT has a powerful set of lawyers that can make anything go away...

Are the Halls stepping up the message??
by littleblueuk inrecently my jw mother has been acting strange.
she's saying things like, she feels like she doesn't "know" her children anymore (as if she ever did), and that she knows we all talk about her behind her back and mock her religion.
then she'll say that she has the "friends" and that's all she needs.. is the society turning up the armegeddon's almost here and cut off your non-believing relatives now 'cause they won't make it into the new system thing?

I blurted out to my mom that I am now taking a break from the "Society" and now she looks at me as if I've gone loco.
She says the "end" is really really close now and that I better straighten up. There's more to this story, but I don't wanna jack this thread. The same message of the "end" is still being broadcasted throughout the Halls...

Thank you for all of this information! Earlier this week, the texts at Matthew 12 came to mind and I linked it to blood transfusions. Your additional info is greatly appreciated.
I have a sister-in-law who just had a baby, and not even a week later found out she has a tumor. She is going into surgery next week, and I would hate to see anything happen to her because she refused a blood transfusion. So I've been racking my brain for scriptural support, and this is it! I just want her to realize that it's HER decision, NOT the Society's when determining if anyone should get a transfusion. I was upset when that young mother in Europe died because of refusing a blood transfusion. It was a senseless loss.
