This one:

"C. T. Russell was a man of positive convictions. Convinced that Christ's invisible presence had begun, he was determined to proclaim it to others." Pg. 47, first paragraph at the top of the page.

Why does this piss me off? Russell was a false prophet, and instead the Society whitewashes all his false prophecies, as IF to say that ALL the "positive convictions" of false prophecies could bring any sort of GLORY to God Himself! It DOESN'T matter if anyone has all the "positive convictions" in the world... If you proclaim falsehoods in the name of God, then you merit the punishment that goes with false prophesying.

In ancient Israel, if someone was false prophesying, the people wouldn't just go "Oh, but he is such a nice man. Let's not stone him. Plus he seemed sincere about his convictions." LOL...

I've never received a wrapped-up present from my family. I never understood all that BS talk about how "you can give presents all year long, and you don't have to wait until a special holiday" crap.

Did you understand doctrine when you were "in"?

or did you think that you didn't understand it because you didn't study enough?

I guess you could say I knew about most of the doctrines, but I never understood the why. As in, Why is this scripture literal and the next one figurative? And, Why in the hell do you jump from one side of the bible to another to explain a doctrine?

It always boggled my mind. Then I figured it out: To be a JW, you don't have to understand it, you just have to repeat it. Like a parrot.

paragraph 3 of this typically un-self-effacing article is incredible for 2 reasons, 2 reasons jws are unlikely to be awake to and will more than likely be blind to.. .

first of all the wts very grandly state that "jehovah and "the faithful and discreet slave" deeply appreciate all their past and present contributions to the kingdom work.".

firstly, the wts have put their organisation in the self-assigned role as the "faithful and discreet slave", which we'll come to in a second.

You also have to remember that that scripture is repeated in almost every piece of literature they produce nowadays (especially the Study articles). They (the WT) repeat that scripture enough times that it's become implanted in their brains to not think about anything outside their box.

did the watchtower claim that the scripture at luke 21:24 had been fulfilled?.

they will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations.

jerusalem will be trampled on by the gentiles until the times of the gentiles are fulfilled.. .

Yep, Gentile Times ended, according to them. But then God supposedly organized a group of people on Earth to proclaim that the Kingdom had been established in heaven.

How Jesus Returns?

if you believe that jesus returned invisibly, i'd like to know why you still cling to that wt dictate.. but my question is more for those who believe the return is yet to come.. according to scriptures, jesus appeared to many people after his resurrection, but the acension was not a "grand send off".. in acts it says that he will return in like manner.

several scriptures say he will come in the clouds with great glory; that does not seem like the way he left, at least from what we have of scriptural infomation.

do you think that all will see his coming, but that he will personally appear only to his followers?.

I believe that when he does actually return, we will be able to VISIBLY see him. I think those scriptures about his return were meant in a literal sense, not figurative. I just hope the Watchtower is around to witness his return. It'll be laughable to see how they struggle to explain that one!

Scholarly support for 607bce ?

i mentioned to a bro.

who is supposed to be answering some of my "concerns" with wt teaching that all the non-witness refs.i have seen to the fall of jerusalem place it twenty years later at 587-586 bce.. he maintains that some scholars support 607. does anyone know of a reliable scholar ,who is a recognised expert in this period,who does support 607 ?.

i am well aware that it makes no difference,as the bible nowhere gives us 2520 years,but i am fed up with his assertions and would like to blow this one out of the water so i can ask him to please check his facts.. only help if you really have time ,it's not life or death.. many thanks.

MY PROJECT IS (FINALLY) FINISHED!

for those of you who are interested, the project i've been working on for the last few months is finally finished.

it seems that alot of us still have family members in the religion and have not infrequent arguments with them about some of the beliefs and practices.
