Isn't this a classic example of "following another Jesus"?

That's them!! Thanks for finding this!
I had forgotten that the guy I've been talking too mentioned that the Bride in the book of Revelations was the "Mother God". I couldn't believe that crap... He was also pulling other texts out of context...
I feel sorry for these people too. They've been duped...

-That Jesus ascended back to heaven in 1985
Does anyone here know or ever heard of a group that is advocating these teachings? Their reasoning is that the fig tree parable that Jesus spoke about meant that when Israel (current-day Israel) became an official nation again in 1948, then that signaled his 2nd Coming. But they also reason that Jesus didn't come in glory or huge fanfare so the world didn't really behold him. Basically he's already come again, and that's all I know for now.
I've been trying to find any religious groups on the internet that believes this sort of thing, but I haven't found one yet. This is all I know because the guy goes to great lengths to explain the parable and blah blah blah, and then I have to leave because I do have other things to do. So I haven't asked him yet if he has any pictures of this Jesus that supposedly showed up on Earth. He's trying to convert me and to accept these things, but there's no way I'm accepting these things.
From my own personal bible reading, Jesus also warned that there would be many false Christ's and would produce many spectacular wonders. I don't believe he's come again... yet.
Crazy religions... After I stopped believing the WT, I feel that I should hold onto Christ only and no other organization on earth.

This is a topic that I almost dare not bring up with my own mother.
All our lives we were taught that we would never grow old and die in this "system".
My father is gone now, and my mother is getting older and older. No retirement pension was set up because "the end was near". She will be depending on us (her children) and Social Security to get her through.
I don't mind supporting her financially. I feel good helping her out. What I do mind is the Watchtower telling all it's faithful followers the same damn drivel, week in and week out. I feel sorry for all those new ones still coming into the bOrg, not knowing their full history of lies and deception. I don't feel sorry for the older members who never had children, or never planned for retirement. It's their fault for putting their faith in men. Another scripture is in order here:
Psalms 146:3 (NIV) - "Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save."
I don't worry about my own mortality. My life is in Christ's hands.

They "Keep Following the Lamb" - February Study Article (Praise for the GB)
by Ultimate Reality inthe article is not yet in print, however on jw.org you will find the audio recording for the february 15, 2009 study edition.. this article sums up some of the talks given over the past year or so.
it makes clear that we should trust the faithful and discreet slave because jehovah and jesus trust the "slave".
the slave has been faithfully providing spiritual food for 130 years.

Point taken. They've been "appointed" because the "historical facts" show it to be so. LOL

OK, there's something that disturbs me about this. I've listened to the audio of the February 2009 article (which is based on Anthony Morris' talk in '07) and there is something missing. Something HUGE.
When expounding upon the reasons why all Witnesses should "trust the slave", they have left off one IMPORTANT KEY element: The Slave's appointment in 1919.
Did I miss it somewhere in the audio? I don't remember Anthony Morris talking about it either. It seems to me that instead of trying to emphasize the 1919 date, they are now leaving that one bit of information out, seeing as how it can be proven by their own literature that they were NEVER appointed in the first place. Wouldn't it be easy to discard 1914 if 1919 weren't in the picture? I thought that if they discarded 1914 first, they would have to do something about 1919. But what if they discard 1919 first, make the people forget they ever taught it (doublethink), and then work backwards to discard 1914 as well?
Just a thought... (by the way, if I missed the mention of 1919 in the audio, please let me know.)
No 1919 = No 1914 =

On a similar note, I saw this in their "Revelation: It's Grand Climax At Hand" book and for some reason it disturbs me:
"Under angelic direction, these are sharing with the anointed "slaves" in declaring everlasting good news to all mankind." -Paragraph 3, pg. 15
You should really read Randy Watters' article about the Watchtower's "Holy Spirit". (I can't find the article right now, but it's on his website.) He points out that Rutherford was "under angelic direction" and NOT the holy spirit from 1919 forward!!

what early christians called themselves...NOT FD-SLAVE!
by oompa indo you know what they called themselves?.
i have asked several elders and a circuit overseer these two questions and nobody has ever really answered the first one...and never the second one!...
"why do the fds call themselves the fds when first century who (supposedly) were the heavenly class never once called themselves that.....but almost always used another term and they used it over and over....do you know what they called themselves"..... geeze i love that deer in headlights look...especially from that smugass co....so then i tell them....they called themselves the "chosen ones...those chosen..and just the chosen"....so why the crap do those supposedly chosen now use a stupid phrase found only in a parable?????.....

That's always a good question for any J-Dub: "Name one scripture where any apostle/disciple/rank&file member relied on the 'faithful and discreet slave' class for "spiritual food at the proper time"?

a lil witnessing on my part
by isaacaustin inon my job i have dealing with lcoations in different parts of the countries.
to avoid any sort of confidentiality breach i will leave out the detail but simply state that a kingdom hall came up in a job-related conversation with one of our locations.. i told the person i spoke with that i have family in this religion and i too was raised in it.
this brought on questions as to why jws can celebrate anniversaries but not birthdays.

I've done a little "informal witnessing" of my own at work or wherever. I try to warn as many people as I can about the WT. A few of my close co-workers know what I am going through and they understand completely. Aren't "people of the world" more loving and accepting?
