is there a way of saying tactfully to my superdub family that we do not want anniversary presents this year ?.

our 39th is on saturday the 12th and my wife says that as the family only have the minimum to do with us since our fade she feels it is the height of hypocrisy to buy us presents.. she also does not like my super-smug sister (who does ?

) who will come to our place bearing gifts we do not want from persons who will not entertain our point of view.. i cannot think of away that is kind, to get out of this, heeelllpppppp !!!!!!!!!!.

woman shoots and kills intruder in lincoln county cushing a woman with a shotgun was on the phone to a 911 dispatcher this morning in lincoln county when she shot and killed an intruder who crashed through her back patio door.. .

donna jackson, 56, told the dispatcher a man she didn't know was at her sliding glass door to her back patio about 12:40 a.m. at 352112 e 800 road south of the cushing city limits, said lincoln county sheriff chuck mangion.. she was armed with a 16-gauge shotgun when the dispatcher heard the glass door smash and the shotgun blast, mangion said.. a man identified as billy dean riley, 53, was struck once in the chest and pronounced dead when emergency medical workers arrived, mangion said.. jackson was not harmed.. jackson was home alone when her dog woke her up, mangion said.

she turned all the lights in the house on and then armed herself with the shotgun.

so i have my daughter (a 33 year old choreographer turned psych student) reading rah.

so far she's read double star and tunnel in the sky, she stayed up all night friday night finishing tunnel.

Stranger in a Strange Land by RAH. You already have Moon is a Harsh Mistress. The Past Though Tomorrow is his definitive short collection.

Peter F. Hamilton: especially Night's Dawn Trilogy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Night%27s_Dawn_Trilogy, but the Greg Mandel books are fun, too. (OK, count this as just another vote)

Octavia Butler, anything, though it's heavy on sociology rather than hard science. Akin to Ursula Le Guin.

Another vote for Niven's Ringworld.

Greg Bear's Darwin's Radio and Darwin's Children.

Any of the collected shorts by PKD (Phillip K. Dick). Avoid the novels unless your just into general mind warpage, and Ellison usually does it somewhat better IMHO.

Asimov's Robot Series, start with The Caves of Steel, go on from there if like. The Gods Themselves is a nice adjunct to these, completely not Robots but an extension of theme.

Another vote for Clarke's Childhood's End, and also Rondezvous with Rama.

The equivelant of fine wine: anything by James Tiptree Jr. (Alice Sheldon) or A. E. Van Vogt.

On the edge of fantasy: The Amber series by Zelazny; for that old-time British flavor: Wyndham's Day of the Triffids or Midwich Cuckoos.

Any short collection edited by Groff Conklin, you cannot go wrong.

i guess one of the things that i hold most against the senile octagenarians who run the wtbts and tell us things like "rock music is from satan" is how much music i either missed out on or felt guilty about listening to.

i love music.

everyone who knows me can tell when i am not listening to enough music.

Sorcerer is a 1977 action-adventure film, produced and directed by William Friedkin, starring Roy Scheider, Bruno Cremer, Francisco Rabal and Amidou. It is a remake of the 1953 French film Le Salaire de la Peur (Wages of Fear).

Sorcerer is notable for its electronic score by Tangerine Dream, which was the group's first Hollywood film score and led to its becoming popular soundtrack composers of the '80s.

This was my favorite TD "period", though I also liked the Babylon 5 stuff by Christopher Franke.

perhaps one selected/predestined by jehovah and another not predestined by invited by jesus?

The parable of the vineyard workers is about the WTS

I find no reason to think that parables (teaching tools for the present) have anything at all to do with prophecy (foretlling the future, describing future events, applying to "classes" of people...).

That is, the law is removed from them and they are no longer subject to the law

Jesus' sacrifice did that. For everyone.

How does an anointed know he is anointed?

Through inner knwoledge, conviction, or gnosis.

How do the non-anointed recognize him as one truly anointed, instead of someone who thinks too much of himself?

Impossible to prove.

And, do the anointed ever feel that they might lose their anointment after all?

I knew of a case where someone claimed to be anointed and then decided they had made a mistake and weren't anointed after all. They had already partaken fo the emblems, so they were reproved for their pride.

Have you seen what appears to be 2 different groups of annointed?

Mankind has lasted this long, despite some pretty intellectually dark times imposed by religion.

I suspect that mankind will dontinue to improve, despite likely future hiccups in the God department.

And despite predictions of its imminent demise.

When I saw the horrors it promoted (slavery, a Vengeful God) and it's ridiculous prohibitions like mixing cloth and dietary restrictions.

Then I realized that you have to start with the belief that it's God's Word, rather than being able to prove anything by it.

one of the first baby dolls i gave my granddaughter was a cute little black baby doll.

she still has it in her car seat and if you try to take her doll from her she says, "my baby!!

" typically little children are color blind.

Not much, to be honest. I'm much more interested in how an individual behaves.

Well, I must admit one thing: I tend to like certain accents, so maybe I'm predisposed to think more highly of certain people until I see their behaviors.
