i saw a story this morning about a guy who is making cheese using his wife's breast milk.. i checked a poll and 80% of people think this is gross.
i must admit there is a part of me that is repulsed too.
my scientific "geek" and curious side is intrigued and would want to try it... but then the repulsion kicks in again.

There is likely a relationship between toilet training and subsequent attitudes toward bathroom etiquette and this dynamic of weaning and taboo against mothers' milk. There is a similar early behavior modification, intimacy of body function, and later sense of prohibition.
last night, i went to my parents' house to wash clothes--or so i thought.
apparently, someone's been talking.
so...i get slammed for listening to people on the internet.
after reading another post /thread here about posters comments i thought of something that may or may not have been discussed here before.. has anyone wrote to the wtbts and told them about their treatment as a jw/ex jw?.
either as a child or as a adult.. do you think it would help in the recovery?.
i know when i decided to leave i wrote them a letter saying what i felt they were doing wrong and what had happened in my life.
back in september of 08 my mom died, and both of my parents had been jw's since 1978.. in the mid 80's they moved down south to retire.
and she was the type of person who remembered everyones anniversary, if someone got .
sick, or died she would send a card, flowers, to the family or call.. even years after they moved away !.
Is this a normal practice ?
I have never come across this myself - out of all the deaths in recent years in my extended family no one has ever asked me nor my parents to "come back so they can say how sorry they are." Maybe when my parents reach the end of the mortal coil I'll get The Call - but I can tell you the funeral services won't be anything like the bOrg intend.
does anyone feel threatened by outsiders of the jw world?
does it matter if anyone never has been a jw?.
what about those who have family members who are one, but not they themselves?
I think the non-XJW can give a perspective that is absent otherwise.
It's individuals that stand or fall on the board, not a class - not born-in versus converted, not get my wife out versus get my friend out, not Christian versus Atheist.
Without diverse perspectives, we don't need to engage with anyone else. We can just listen to the voices in our heads for all we need.

when you were in, or at the moment, if you are in, were you ever offered unconditional love by worldly people?

Yes, I've been offered unconditional love by worldlies (as close as you can get on this mortal coil, at least).
It freaked me out. I just knew there was something I needed to do to deserve it, to be worthy of it, to EARN it.
They were patient and I finally got it - they just loved me the way I was, however that was.
sometimes we find a place and it feels like home, it is accepting and understanding.. then, sometimes, that place becomes cold and inhospitible.. when i first joined here i felt i have found a good place.. people like narkissos, leolaia and others impressed me with their knowledge of scripture and motivated me to learn more for myself.. others touched me with the stories of their pan and hurt, pain and hurt that i was feeling also.. i don't think i ever offended anyone with my views on christianity and if i have i sincerly apologise for that was not my intent.. but things change and sometimes home isn't home anymore.... this site had been invalable to me for my understanding what is wrong with the jw's relgion and the wt, it has strengthened my faith and belief.. here i found people of religon, faith and love.. here i found agnostics and athiest that challenged my views and made me question, they made me a believe via reason and not "blind faith".. for that, i thank all of you, especially the "jeff's" ( ak and alltime), i also say a special thanks to leavingthewt, many of his posts made me feel welcomed and made me think and be a better person.. chalam, bts, dd and so many others, i thank you from my heart for your kind words over these many months.. people like mary and sylvia and so many others filled my heart with love with their stories.. all the best to you my dear brothers and sisters.. .

my manager expects (never directly ordered me), but expects me to have my work laptop booted up at home every evening after work, all weekend long and every holiday so i can monitor my email and promptly respond to emails.. .
am i wrong for being pissed off about this?.
the company i work for is always talking about their "work life balance" program for employees.
You need on-call pay to be available during non-work hours, whether they expect to contact you by phone or email. Otherwise, without your agreement, there is no reasonable expectation that they should be able to reach you.
If you had a union, it would be in your contract. Contracts are good: they make expectations explicit. A common understanding is the first step to good staff relations and morale.
