Do you atheists resent the believers on here and do you believers resent the atheists?
by Lozhasleft ini'm wondering how people feel about us exjws either becoming atheists or continuing on with a faith in god?.
do you get angry or frustrated at the opposing view?.
i'm new but i've seen different reactions to both on here...as for me i am happy to live and let live nowadays...its ok with me whatever people want to choose for themselves..... personally i still have enormous faith and love for god....if the jws couldnt destroy it i dont think much else could...?.

Deciding whether God exists - and what "God" is - is perhaps the most personal inquiry anyone can make.
It's my hope that if someone finds God, they find it on their terms - and not adopt someone else's version of God.
It's my hope that if God speaks to them, they realize he speaks only to them - and isn't telling them how to make others live their life.
Everything else: it's my hope it leads you to a celebration of life - with God or without.

How To Construct a Creationist/Theistic Argument
by darkl1ght3r inhow to construct a creationist/theistic argument - by ben spencer.
step 1. come up with a supposed self-apparent, universal, unbreakable, and yet ultimately unprovable "law".. for example:.
all effects require a cause.

Whether there is something Divine or not, it must be clear that most people, expecially of the past, and specifically theologians, have been in the grip of cultural assumptions (bordering on mass self-hypnosis) that there must be a God of a particular kind.
Such is the human psyche.
To understand something beyond limited human thinking, you must transcend limited human thinking (a corollary of Einstein's comment on solving problems).

Did you feel alone amongst the great crowd of JW's?
by highdose inlike there you were at an assembly maybe, everyone seems to be swarming with freinds, and you are the one left out unwanted and made to feel like you don't belong there?.

Yes, why did all these people pee themselves over words that I found fatuous and condescending, even at 5 years old?

For born ins- what tipped you off it was wrong
by teela(2) inat a young age i remember watching tv and commenting why is the red cross always helping people and we don't.
the second big one is if the witnesses only started up in 1890 - 1900 did jehovah not have anyone else doing the preaching work?.
as a child i don't think we think about theological problems so what tipped you off?

They treated people wrongly, which a God Of Love would not condone.
Lack of justice - I was stuck with the Two Witnesses Rule, which was clearly a man-made mandate that allowed prolonged suffering.
The hypocrisy of 1975 double-speak was the final straw.
All of this was contrary to what I internally held as true.

CO visit provides preview of April generation change!
by agent zero ini thought the april wt's brazen generation doctrine change would barely get an official mention before nor after the two paragraphs that deal with it, but yesterday i went to the circuit overseer's visit and in a talk from a bethel outline, he specifically mentioned the change, and i quote... "the very very very newest information we have available, from the april 15th 2010 watchtower!
" ..reads the infamous paragraphs.. and then, "isn't that wonderful brothers and sisters?
so now we understand that it means that brother russell's life overlapped with brother rutherford's who's life overlapped (he went through them all), so clearly, this means the end is near.".

I just don't know how to say that I can't be friends with them, with anyone here in that way without sounding insane, paranoid or snobbish.
Maybe because it is insane, paranoid or snobbish.
I'm just a very straightforward person.
No she's not - if she were, she would tell them in a straightforward way, "I don't want to be your friend."

how long in truth,,,what was the final "straw"
by peaches ini was in for 30 years.....my ex was an elder...."holy spirit appointed" he tortured me....i was married 33+ years....you know,,,marriage is sacred...you can leave,,,i know,,,,if abuse is intolerable....but that starts a series of events...etc etc etc....i finally left everything...and moved far away.....people actually believe "holy spirit" appoints people,,,my ex would not pray unless there was an audience...you know,,,,people invited over for supper kind of thing,,,you get the point..... my best friend had a mental breakdown,,,,she basically became psychotic.....had to be hospitalized....she took up smoking,,,got disfellowshipped...and lost all emotional support....to this day,,,,as far as i know,,,she is still disfellowshipped...needs to be hospitialized every so often....she is on complete disability.....and still trying to get back into the org....her mother does support some what,,,,even though she is a witness herself,,,,,takes her to assemblies,,,,memorial,,,etc,,,,this has gone on for years.....she cannot mentally handle the organization,,,nor can she mentally handle not being a witness...lost everything....guilt....etc..... did not mean to ramble on so much......i have mental scars that will not go away....because i stayed in a "mess" for god,,,,i could write page after page of things like the above....as being my "last straw".......curious about you here on the board....any specific "breaking point" or a collection of many things..... thanks for your in put...peaches.

From birth till about 19, but fading before that and occasional attendance through 24.
Final straw: them putting my dad into limbo of "self DA" for questioning who was commanded to go door to door.
You'd think the molestation would have done the trick.
