  Let's Talk About NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

  do you attempt to set a new years resolution or several?

  I'm having a little trouble with the ones that are copy protected

  Depends on the tech you are using. Going generational with VHS will degrade quality, and the Macrovision will usually make the duped tape no better than what you are already getting. If you can spend about $100, I've had good results with the Dazzle video interface. I don't like the DVD authoring tools that come with the PC version, so I use the Dazzle to capture the video then create the DVD in Roxio or copy it to the Mac; the Dazzle Video for Mac is bare bones software that makes capture dead-easy, and I like Apple's iDVD for authoring most things - simple, and fast, and surprisingly good results.

  I began to doubt most seriously as I came out of the water, having just been baptized, at 9 years old. I expected to suddenly "know" God in a new way, feel Him in a profound way. Instead I was only aware of being hustled along through the production line, no one looking at me, no one treating this moment like anything other than the cattle prodding it was.

  A question about Nephilim

  it seems like the nephilim are a favorite subject of my jw friend.

  it's one of the first things she likes to bring up with people to show how much she "knows" about the bible.

  of course, many christians also believe that the nephilim are the result of a sexual union between fallen angels and humans.

  I think the official stance is that the "giants" of numbers are just large men, while the Nephilim of pre-flood days were the offspring of fallen angels (who apparently have external genitals) and human women. There may be "new light" on this, but this is what I was taught. The explanation? Well, obviously the giants of Numbers couldn't have been the same Nephilim, because those were all destroyed in the flood (ipso facto).

  i'm half-tempted to order it.

  the author claims to be a presiding overseer, and claims to have lost his son to suicide after the son was df'd.

  Why you still go on Field Service? Why Elders posts on JWD?

  this morning, a poster asked me why i still go on field service:.

  just wondering if your conscience bothers you that you are continuing to "spread the jw gospel"?

  What do you think?

  I think that it's a difficult place to be, and a process to go through. Eventually, perhaps the pain of doing nothing will exceed the pain of chnage.

  For my own part, I think I would be doing a grave disservice to people by enticing them into a religion I didn't believe in - not to mention perpetuating the horror of getting them trapped inside, when I know that they could very well be soon in my predicament - trapped inside a something I don't believe in but can't escape from.

  Who of us would actively recruit others into a prison? That's a question to balance against, Who wants to lose their family, friends, and socail standing?

  iam now as what was announced at a recent meeting that iam "no longer a jehovah's witness" all of my family and friends are witnesses so this will ailenate me from all of my friends and family.

  but i feel like i don't want to go back.

  i really hate the feeling of isolation and shamefulness while iam sitting in the meeting, what's the point of it all.
