Ghost: Very interesting...how the practice has strayed from what the doctrine started as...!
Jambon: "The job of a CO must be surreal." Lovely post. Thank you!

Why the molestation issue won't bring down JW's
by proplog2 in?molestation is not a problem unique to jws.
it happens all the time everywhere.
it is a human problem.

SINCE, JW’s have been guilty of exposing their children to molesters THEREFORE EVERYTHING they say is necessarily false.
I would say, "Since the WTS has been guilty of saying 'this never happens within our organization' when THEY KNOW THAT IT DOES they are lying weasels and need to be bankrupted."

No one comes to the Father but through Me
by JH incan anyone explain to me what "no one comes to the father but through me" means ?.
i told my mom, who is getting baptized tomorrow in the baptist faith, that we have to pray to the father, not jesus like they do.
she told me that they pray to jesus because jesus said, "no one comes to the father but through me", so they pray to jesus directly, and then he relays the prayer to the father.

Different religions spin this a little differently - the WTS becomes more Catholic with the passing of time. Humans cannot directly engage God, they must use an intermediary - usually Jesus, who delivers messages to God on their behalf. The WTS has this newest wrinkle: only the remnant of the 144,000 bound for Heaven can speak directly to Jesus, Jesus is na intermeidary only for them. The WTS has yet to drop the other show, which must logically follow:
Therefore, the Great Crowd must pray to the 144,000, who can pass the message on to Jesus, who can then relay it to God.
Can you imagine the cosmic game of telephone that must setup...

Babies drink theirs in the womb.
Fetuses must breathe their own urine. Would this make it a good idea for us?

Have you found Jesus?
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land ina man is stumbling through the woods, totally drunk, when he comes upon a preacher baptizing people in the river.
he proceeds to walk into the water and subsequently bumps into the preacher.
the preacher turns around and is almost overcome by the smell of alcohol, whereupon he asks the drunk, "are you ready to find jesus?

Isn't it ironic?
by Princess Daisy Boo ini used to regularly get calls from my mom (she rarely confronted me face to face for some reason) about my leaving "da troof" and most often, her lectures were met with my silence - i didnt have the confidence to answer her back as to why i left and refused to return.
now - almost 7 months are regularly reading and posting on jwd, i am angry and just itching for an opportunity for me to tell her what i have learned and discovered.
the relief at discovering that i wasn't alone is indescribable!

Ironic? Perhaps. Splendid more likely?
Enjoy the sensation of release and power. Someday you may be able to help her out of the dark, cold hole that is the WTS.

FRAUDULENT door to door premise from the "Catholic" Governing Body
by Terry inaccording to the organization with its governing body pronouncements of "truth", the bible was written for and directed to the chosen elite with the heavenly hope and not to the rank and file "other sheep.".
if this were truly so, would that not mean the admonitions to preach the good news of the kingdom would, logically, be directed soley to the chosen elite and not to the the rank and file as well?.
if the governing body possesses that magically spirit-directed message of truth--and they only--it would be irresponsible for non-anointed to take upon themselves work given to the chosen few, would it not?.

Hey there Open:
I'll see if I can get a copy of one of the letters - though I'm not sure the letters my dad has received are as complete as the letter his current BOE got from the WTS.
Dad does not have to preach. Back in November, I believe, the last "attack" came from a newly appointed elder who told my dad "You cannot call yourself one of Jehovah's Witnesses if you are not out in the field service". My dad was offended and stopped attending meetings. If took a couple weeks but eventually the DO privately reproved the new elder, who then phoned another elder to have his apology to my dad indirectly delivered.
My dad was initially told decades ago that he disassociated himself when, after a couple years of writing to the WTS and asking "who is commanded to preach", he wrote a letter that said, "Since I do not feel I am commanded to preach [only the 144,000 are], I don't know if I can call myself one of Jehovah's Witnesses." Based on that, the local elders told him he had disassociated himself.
Eventually, as the "class" that Jesus was speaking to was more clearly defined, and after my dad moved to a new congregation, the new BOE started correspondance again with the WTS. My dad was reinstated when someone, somewhere, finally admitted that if the FDS is the only class that has a direct relationship with Christ and is the only group that Christ was directly addressing, then it is only the FDS that is actually commanded to preach.
However, knowing that this great work is important to God, and knowing that the FDS needs all the help it can get, wouldn't the Great Flock surely WANT to participate?
My dad's answer: No, I don't. I don't enjoy it, it's not required, I decline.
I'll see what correspondance I might be able get a copy of - I'm pretty sure I have actually read the argument about the Great Flock's whole-hearted passion to help, based on the invitation to participate with the FDS in a Watchtower, but that I may have dreamed...I don't have bound volumes or WT on CD...
Cheers -ve

I have been party to discussions on this topic for more than 20 years. DID YOU KNOW:
Official doctrine is that ONLY the 144,000 are commanded to preach. The Great Crowd is "iinvited to participate".
My dad's reinstatement was around this very issue. Every few months someone scolds him, a new CO or DO threatens him, a new elder berates him, and each time that person has had to apologize when they get word back from a higher authority that the Great Crowd is NOT commanded to preach.
How's that for a little dark secret of the krazy kult?
