Interestingly, this article on the carm website says the 1970 edition of the NWT still used 'worship' instead of 'obeisance' at Hebrews 1:6

Memorial talk wt escape clause
by prologos in" --only those in the kingdom covenant were served the bread & wine by jesus--" ---false!
this phrase switches from the forgiveness of sin part to the exclusive anointed club section of the memorial talk, and it is false because: the kingdom covenant was done after the passover was done.
and the promise of thrones and judging israel in math 19:28 was not a covenant but an assurance.

There's more than 12 thrones Searcher. In any event, the 144k are clearly a subset of all other Christians being differentiated in scripture from the rest they are taken out of, since they are taken 'from' each of the twelve tribes. If not all are on thrones, then perhaps all are priests, as a parallel to the Levitical priestly class of ancient Israel.
NIV:
Revelation 3:21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.Revelation 4:4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads.
Revelation 11:16 And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God,
Revelation 20:4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. -

Pretending Jesus existed and the Lord's Evening Meal is true... The Memorial is wrong...
by HowTheBibleWasCreated injws celebrate jesus death according to 1 corinthains 11.. fine.
once a year since it's on the jewish passover... fail... since thats tonight not last night but..... lets overlook that... jws from new zeland to london observed the memorial on april 2 by western clock... of course all in the western hemisphere did this on april 3rd wheevr the sun went down.
thus a domino effect in the jw congregations took place starting at the date line going back to the same spot 24 hours later..... well this is pathetic in many ways... if the jws worshipped in spirt and truth according to john 4 (i'm an atheist ... i don't care) they would observe on jerusalem's time zone according to the gospels and 1 corinthians... but they dont....

JW's certainly do not celebrate Jesus death according to 1 Corinthians 11. All Christians were commanded to partake and all did back then. In the Bible there were no mere 'observers' rejecting the bread and wine as it went past. To say you are a 'true Christian' yet reject the emblems is absolutely laughable scripturally. -

The 'great crowd' is a parallel with all the Israelites who escaped Egypt through the Red Sea.
The 144k is a parallel of the priestly or honorific class, the Levitical class, that was a subset of the escaping great crowd.
In other words, the 'great crowd' is all Christians. The 144k is a smaller group of privileged Christians with the role of sitting on thrones.

The Bible Gods Word or Mans
by azor ini remember studying this book years ago and how it impacted my belief system.
i no longer believe the bible is god's word.
however i do have a couple of lingering questions on this subject.

If you believe in the Bible then you believe in an immoral God that committed or sanctioned genocide, amongst other horrible crimes (in the ancient past and will again at Armageddon in the future).
If you believe God has the right to commit or sanction genocide, then basically morality does not exist.
The only rational and enlightened decision then, as hard as it may be for you, is to accept that the Bible cannot possibly be true.

The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

Excellent article here makes similar points: www.jwsrefined.com
Quite simply, a blood transfusion cannot be wrong in God's eyes because the symbol that blood represents, ie, the lost soul or life, has not occurred.

The Memorial - New Covenant
by lriddle80 inso, i went to the memorial tonight.
i've been out for about 10 years, but i went at my husband's suggestion to placate my parents.
i listened to the talk and about 90% of what they said, i agreed with.

Satan isn't deceiving anyone. The ancient Jewish priests and scribes deceived everyone with scary stories about a blood thirsty, vengeful God in order to scare the people into obedience and submission, and to keep those tasty meat sacrifices coming in that only the non-working priests were permitted to eat.
You've got to shed your mind of ancient superstition and fables.

Ex-Christians being angry
by Jonathan Drake ini know i'm angry.
i was curious if others are too.
i feel completely justified in my anger as well.

What are you so angry about Christianity for? It's Islam you need to be angry about.
Christianity and Europe has mostly shed it's centuries long stranglehold on enlightenment and scientific knowledge and truth. Thankfully we now live in a mostly secular, skeptical Christian age where even most Christians don't take many of their own ancient writings too literally.
Unfortunately the same can't be said for Islam. It will probably be many centuries before Islam manages to shed itself of all the superstitious ignorance that still pervades it. The power of Islam over it's adherents minds is truly staggering and frightening, some 1400 years since their illiterate, cave-dwelling 'prophet' Mohammed had his 'visions'.
You should feel more angry about that, and all the violence and evil and suffering it is presently causing.
The only positive side to all the terrorism is it is polarising the younger generation of Muslims. It is pushing a few nutter muslims into extremism and militarism, but it is pushing even more towards disgust and apathy towards their parents religion.

JW's doctrine on the new covenant is one of the most obviously screwed up and perverted doctrines of the JW's.
The scriptures clearly show all Christians partook, as they were all commanded to, and there is not such thing as a 'true Christian' who is not in the new covenant. There is no such thing in scripture as a mere 'observer' of the memorial.
The new covenant is about forgiveness of sins, not about a destination (heaven v earth).
As all Israelites were in the old covenant, even proselytes, so all Christians are in the new covenant.
It's obvious that the great crowd in Revelation must be in the new covenant. They have washed their robes in the blood of the lamb and are even standing in the 'naos' itself before God.
