Yes, there is no way to lose an argument with a JW online. We might be critical of the governing body's authority, but they are actively rebelling against it, regardless of what they say. Their actions speak louder than our words.

I always get a great measure of satisfaction...
by B_Deserter inthat when a witness tries to debate with you online, that very act can get them disfellowshipped.
it's an incredible feeling that if someone were to just talk to me, they could be kicked out of the org.
for it.

Cool site. It has a nice visual appeal. I like the way you linked to this forum and JW Facts. It helps with their search engine rankings. I'll be sure to link to your site.
I have several strange blogs. My primary one is a music blog here: http://danielthompson.blogspot.com/ I need to post some of my recent music.
I also recently started a blog for videos about JW's: http://jehovahswitnessesvideo.blogspot.com/ I hope to make a big announcement when I get it set up the way I want it.

"If evolution is true, what's to keep us from behaving like animals?"
by Awakened07 inare we "just babies"?
are we "just animals"?.
yes - animals do not and cannot appreciate art, music, poetry, history, beauty etc.

If the God of the Bible created us in his image, what's to keep us from behaving like bloodthirsty, genocidal maniacs?

The JW response to NBC has moved.
by DT init is no longer on the main page of the authorised site of the office of public information of jehovah's witnesses.
they moved it here: http://www.jw-media.org/newsroom/index.htm i wonder if this partially a result of the criticism from jwd.
their response is noteworthy because they openly admit that they did settle with abuse victims (despite the outrageous spin they put on the issue).

It is no longer on the main page of the Authorised Site of the Office of Public Information of Jehovah's Witnesses. They moved it here: http://www.jw-media.org/newsroom/index.htm I wonder if this partially a result of the criticism from JWD. Their response is noteworthy because they openly admit that they did settle with abuse victims (despite the outrageous spin they put on the issue). This is good for sharing with those who are scared of "apostate" sites or "Satanic lies" in the media. I have some other thoughts about that site: It seems that this site may be a necessary evil for the JW's. They have to discuss things that they don't want to admit to their members, like the pedophilia scandal. It may be a vulnerable target in the battle to inform the public about the real truth about the "truth". There is a great thread about the Gail Bethea-Jackson video and how they took her comments out of context: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/148574/1.ashx This could be big. I started another thread about another questionable pedophile video on that site. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/148771/1.ashx That site usually comes up around fourth or fifth when I do a Google search. I started another thread a while back that discusses how we may be able to negatively affect their search results through our linking practices (from blogs, websites, etc.) http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/146739/1.ashx It may not seem like a big deal, but if we got another "apostate" site or two to get listed above them it could make a huge difference when the media are doing research on JW scandals. Even discussing these issues at JWD can provide search engine results for those who are checking up on the WTS. (For example, if they want to find out if Gail Bethea-Jackson is really a doctor or approves of the way she was quoted by the WTS.) Does anybody else have any ideas?

Now widow wants MONEY because of no blood transfusion
by VanillaMocha73 inhttp://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/stlouiscitycounty/story/6dc0ac2739be6e63862573b000160633?opendocument
should not she just get a job?
or express her faith that jehovah will take care of her?

I don't blame the widow for what she is doing. I would probably do the same thing if I was in her situation and still shared her beliefs. This was a preventable tragedy and I think she should get more reimbursement. However, it is the lies and deceit of the WTS that caused this accident to turn deadly. I just feel the widow is suing the wrong people. If the company loses, I think it would be appropriate for them to sue the WTS to reimburse them for their preventable financial loss.

Another Questionable JW Video
by DT inhttp://www.jw-media.org/vnr/2122827332/716353.htm.

The whole video is laughable, but I wanted to concentrate on the quoting of Dr. M. Ruth Infante. Did she know the full truth about the JW pedophile policy? Even if she is a JW she isn't an elder so she would probably be ignorant of their secret policies. Does she realise that they are still quoting her at least five years after the fact? She might be shocked and resentful if she learned the truth about the matter.
It might be worth trying to contact her. I would rather see someone do this who is more knowledgeable about the pedophilia issues than I am. I believe I have her current contact information. If someone wants to volunteer to do this, they can PM me for the contact information. What do you think?

Interesting. It appears that this was a suicide caused by the control of a cult. I think the cult should pay off the widow.

This sentence is a lie.
by DT indo you believe me?
what if the governing body said it?
do you think the dubs would believe it?

Actually, the Bible contains a similar statement at Titus 1:12, "A certain one of them, their own prophet, said: "Cretans are always liars...""

A question about Isaac Newton
by DT ini don't want to start rumors, but i recall a time when i was a kid and was paging through some old bound volumes.
i came across an article about isaac newton that discussed his interest in religion and how he didn't believe in the trinity.
my memory is kind of fuzzy, but i seem to recall that there was a statement that indicated he may have been of the anointed.

There are a good number of WT articles discussing this topic, but this one seems to be their most detailed one:
Thank you Drew. The information in that article seemed very familiar to me, but I think the article I'm thinking about was written earlier, maybe in the sixties. Or maybe it is the same article, but edited for the CD ROM. I also wouldn't be surprised to see them rewrite an article with embarrassing information in it several years later and then make sure that the original article can't be found in the index or by a search of the CD ROM.

Even now I still suffer from Demon-phobia at night anyone else?? {Bump??}
by Witness 007 inthings that go bump in the night still force me to get out of bed and check them out even though at 35 i know it's just the house rafters shifting, temperature changes etc...sometimes i wake up to see strange shapes in my room...switch on the light and it's my jacket.
i think the witnesses have conditioned me to believe in demons on a sub-conscious level.
i know they are not real...but i still check.

Last night when I was half asleep, it felt like something was pressing down on my right shoulder. It woke me up and I considered the possibility of demons, but quickly dismissed it because I don't believe in them anymore. I just decided it must be a nightmare or night terror and went back to sleep. I'm glad I'm no longer under the influence of the JW organization.
