I have a lot of problems with them, but their shunning is the biggest. It gives them authority over people who don't agree with them. I would like to have a live and let live attitude towards them, but they make it impossible. There are a lot of crazy religions, but they are the only ones who try to take my family away from me. As long as they have that policy, I will work for that organisation's downfall and eventual humiliation.

My only problem with the JWs
by dawg inbesides the fact that jws are pious, think only they have the truth, won't read anything with an open mind... hell won't read anything at all minus wt magazines... .
after all this, my only real problem is the shunning... almost everyone i love gets on my nerves from time to time, i get on theirs.
the fact that the jws beliefs is annoying isn't the problem, it just that after they are wrong as hell becasue of their ignorance, they won't talk to you.. i'm not trying to get my family to eradicate their beliefs, i'm just trying to get them to stop shunning those of us that don't believe like them.

I don't want to worship a God that.............
by oompa inwould kill billions of people for any reason.. would require family members to not speak to a member of their own family.. would require a parent to stone a child for being a bad boy.. would require probably millions of animals to be slaughtered and make smoke for him.. would let a rapist of a young girl have the privilege of marrying her.. would let mankind suffer for thousands of years to prove something to his heavenly creatures.. would let horrible "natural" tragedies occur, killing millions of people, when they don't have to happen.. would communicate to mankind by writing to them.....but not keep any originals around....like pyramids.. would want to be worshiped in the first place.....i just don't get it........................you can add your own if you want..........oompa.

Think about....anybody that's
been harmed by the practices of this cult or suffered mental anguish at the hands of a JC or any number of other things can file a lawsuit
against an elder or body of elders. Whether they win or not, the elder has to defend himself.
Has anybody had success with this for cases other than pedophilia? How about small claims court? Imagine the result if elders started to realise that they could be held legally accountable for their actions.

Elders breaking ecclesiastical privelege.
by avishai inhow often have you seen this happen?
seems like even when i was a little kid, i'd find out why someone got df'd.
usually almost immediately.

So what are the legal consequences of this? The elders like to claim privilege when it suits them, but make a mockery of it at other times. If they want to be able to hide behind ecclesiastical privilege for legal reasons, they should have to face severe legal consequences for breaking it.

What did you learn as a JW that helps you in your work today
by Lady Lee innote: if you are cautious about being outted then be very careful what you post.. the biggest thing i learned was sign language.
after i left i had a few jobs interpreting.. public speaking - didn't help me at all - that could be because speaking to someone else on the platform doesn't gives women an opportunity to address the audience.
i took a intro course in public speaking that was far better than 22 years of the ministry school.. i'm thinking .

I learned to not be too critical of menial work. Even cleaning toilets is a privilege compared to knocking on doors and trying to recruit people into the cult.

How do JW's react when learning that Jehovah is not part of Christianity?
by oompa injehovah this, jehovah that......6 times per page in the old testament.
but oh how few jw's know that the name jehovah does not even appear in the christian greek scriptures....or new testatment as i prefer.
i used to be so proud of our real bible, the nwt for restoring the divine name thousands of times in the ot.

I was dimly aware of the problem as a JW, but didn't think it through. If Jehovah was in the original NT writings, it means that apostasy happened very early and we can't rely on our earliest documents. If the original NT writings didn't use the name Jehovah, as appears to be the case, then the JW's are guilty of an unforgivable fraud.

What Does it Mean to Suffer Mental Anguish?
by journey-on inif you are hauled in to a jc and disfellowshipped and your whole support system of family and friends.
turn against you and shun you because they've been indoctrinated to do so by the wts, can.
you suffer mental anguish?
-
DT
Is this mental anguish?
No, it's an expression of Jehovah's and the congregation's "love" for the erring individual. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, doesn't it?
Fortunately, the courts speak English and aren't fluent in JWspeak. I hope the time comes when they will take a strong stand on this issue.

Let JWD find the true number of partakers!
by cultswatter ini've heard stories that most congregations have no partakers at all.
if there are approx 9000 partakers in 90,000 congregations then 81,000 congregations don't have partakers.
i just don't believe that - how bout you??
-
DT
I think we have to admit that this little survey isn't very scientific, but I think it is well worth doing. My personal experience indicates that there are many more partakers than the WTS reports. I have known of other halls where you get groups of younger people partaking. It's like they are responding to peer pressure. If a lot of people notice the same trend then it's a good indication that the official number is grossly inaccurate.

What would make them suspect that there is a high level apostate? Could it be that someone is leaking sensitive information? If so, I'm sure they are terrified. Most of their power comes from controlling information. A highly placed apostate could be devastating. Imagine if the Ray Franz incident happened when there was Internet.
Another possibility is they are just spreading rumors to cause fear and tighten their control.

Three partakers out of ten halls.
