I'm giving this a bump after more than four years due to the recent Anonymous threats against the Watchtower Society. I wanted to provide some historical perspective and get some input on what can be done to bring more attention to the current situation.

How Do You Think The Watchtower IT Department Is Responding To The Anonymous Threat?

this will likely include attacking the official websites and trying to obtain the database of 23,000+ pedophiles in the organization.. i have never served at bethel so i would appreciate the input of those who have.
do you think they are taking this threat seriously?.

I understand that they are going after financial information, real estate deals, judicial committe notes, the sources of funding of the Knocking documentary, probably anything they can get their hands on. They will probably post whatever information they find for the fun of causing mayhem and then let us XJWs sort through it, for years if necessary.

It looks like they want the site to be up at the moment so they can gather information. I don't know how it all works, but I know they are gathering a bunch of emails and other data. Taking down the site for a little while probably isn't very difficult, but they want to actually hack the site so it displays a message from them.
This makes me think that the earlier disruptions may have been from maintanence.

The pedophile lists ARE NOT paper
The pedophile information is on a computer data base. 6 years ago it was called ADMIN2000 .
Each WT branch in the world is on it and each branch can access their own date base with list of pedophiles coming under their jurisdiction.
NY branch can access each branch list, but each branch can't access NY branch.

I don't want to reignite the debate about whether the list should be released. The fact is that this might happen whether we want it to happen or not. If it is released, I'm hoping that the XJW community can exert a positive influence on how it is used. I'm certainly in favor of sharing it with law enforcement. I think it would also be appropriate to check if any on the list are serving in positions of authority. If so there should be pressure to have them removed, at least long enough for there to be a proper investigation by police.
We should also refrain from jumping to the conclusion that they must be guilty, since there will likely be some innocent people on the list. I've stopped trusting conclusions from the Watchtower Society a long time ago, especially in matters of child abuse.

I remember when Anonymous went after Scientology. It was accompanied by huge worldwide protests. The XJW response is somewhat weak in comparison, although it's still early. I agree with concentrating on moving on and living a good life, but this is a rare opportunity to leverage our efforts and make a real difference.
