Well... Aleman, if you want to get right down to it the Bible's information about God's stance on blood indicates it was because the animals life was taken and hence it should go back to it's Creator (symbolically). It's rather simple really, a life was taken, therefore show respect and pour out the blood, "life is in the blood".However, humans donate blood while still alive to benefit another and ones own body manufactures more blood to replace it.Who made that possible ? Even though ones own death is not involved when giving blood, did Christ not say: "There is no greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend ".So if the Bible does not disapprove of going as far as death to save another why would giving part of ones "life force" (blood) be wrong ? Would you stand there and let them bleed to death when it's in the power of your hands to save them ? Do you think God would be pleased with that ?

Sorry to hear about what happened to you Belbab. The Society uses people up until there's nothing left and then they throw them away."Disposable Servants" seems to be their thing. If they feel there's a hope they can get something out of someone without a lot effort then they'll do so.But, as soon as someone seems reluctant, they'll chuck them to the side and move onto someone else."We have better things to do.", is the way they view matters.I've know so many Bethelites that came home depressed and frustrated, almost seeming like they were going to burst or leave the org....but eventually, they just talked themselves back into going along with everything as most do.Of course, it's the same with Missionaries and Witnesses in general. It's a very sad situtation and the Society is responsible for so many lives being messed up while they get drunk on power.I seem to recall someone saying, "I want mercy and not sacrifice", guess that doesn't apply to them.....

Bad things to say?
by Aleman into the people in this forum:.
"but if you have bitter jealousy and contentiousness in your hearts, do not be bragging and lying against the truth.this is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is [the] earthly, animal, demonic.for where jealousy and contentiousness are, there disorder and every vile thing are.

now , hey, i'm real, have a good sense of humor, and can take a joke like anyone, be the brunt of a good joke, hell, i laugh at myself when i work alone at nights- just to keep entertained !

Excellent post Mr.Flipper, very well said.Sadly,I too have noticed such comments at times (from a minority) and I would hope that they are made out of frustration toward the org or those who have hurt them and thus take a "cheap shot" to make their point.I know one brother who made over a $100,000 a year with his cleaning business. Many people are willing to take a much lower paying job if it sounds prestigious since pride can be a tough pill to swallow and some people tend to look down on others in "general labor".One would hope that after breaking free from an organization that seeks to determine another's worth based on superficial criteria that we will never again fall into such a habit.

Hello Mia,
You'll notice that I'm new here too. After being an elder for a number of years I finally left over six months ago, although I was "fading" long before that. You definitely made the right choice and I too came to the sad realization that friendships I thought were genuine are, in fact, rather superficial and completely conditional. What happend to a "friend sticking closer than a brother" ? You are not alone and there are many leaving the org.I know it's such a confusing time ,things will become more clear as time goes on.And things that aren't so clear ? Well, there's somewhat of an "unusual" solace, a peace, that it's okay not to know all the answers to everything and that you've taken control of your own life and never again will anyone else have such power over you. You're free !

Since I was an elder for a number of years I tried to put myself in the place of this particular man and I can say with confidence that his responses are not the least bit surprising. One big reason is that from the time one is trained to be an elder they are taught to always defend other elders and "the truth".Usually, it's expressed in such terms as:"Don't allow any negative talk".Now, I didn't necessarily agree with such an approach because if one is guilty the burden lies with them and they can defend themselves and if you're not guilty then you usually don't need defending. That doesn't mean we can't stand up for our friends if they're being maligned but writing off legitimate concerns is just plain wrong.
My point here is that this elder was dealing with information overload and went on "autopilot" as it was the most comfortable and familiar thing to do.However, that doesn't mean he won't seriously consider the things that have been said to him.The seeds have been planted.I know there were times when the friends would mention something to me about another elder or some belief and while I tried to explain it I also acted like perhaps it didn't bother me that much.Later, however, sometimes much later, it came back to me and I gave the matter serious thought. The cumulative effect of all these "plantings" can grow to a serious situation that provides ample motive for personal contemplation and subsequent action. In my case it led to leaving the org.

Tommorrow's Daily Text - this made me so mad!!!
by breakingfree inwell lets get off to a good start for the year by using jesus to justify staying with your abusive husband:.
thursday, january 3. when [jesus] was being reviled, he did not go reviling in return.
when he was suffering, he did not go threatening.-1 pet.

I always hated hearing examples at the Assemblies and Conventions when they would have a sister get up there and tell the story of how she was abused by her husband but just kept going in the hope that he would "come into the truth" or to "set a good example".I felt it was not only irresponsible and disgraceful for the Society to do such things, but sadly the sister herself was, in effect, endorsing the idea that women should stay with their abusive idiot husbands ! And , of course, the elder conducting the part would state what a good example she set for others to follow. That's right, recommend that some poor sister gets the crap beat out of her and the kids so the corporation can continue to get new door knockers !

I've had cats all my life and your cat sounds very normal. They're like little kids that never want to grow up and just want to play. Most love attention.Another thing to keep in mind is that cats may at times claw or chew on you but they usually do NOT mean to hurt you.Cats have thicker skin than humans and it's topped with a thick layer of hair so when they play with each other it's not painful but we humans scratch easily. You're it's playmate/companion and it wants to have fun !
