MIL is a JW
by tika inmy mil who was raised a jw and raised my dh a jw is always doing something to get attention.
i don't invite her over or to do anything anymore because when we do all she whines about is how no one ever wants to call her or do anything with her.
how annoying, who would want to spend time with someone like that!

anyway, i just had a thought which made me stop in for a while.
i was discussing something with a friend the other day, i hadn't even started speaking nor had i brought up the core of my point before he started screaming like some wild manaic; he started making up "straw man" arguments one after the other ad infinum, yelling like a banshee and accusing me of all sorts of thoughts that i don't believe... it was really bazarre.

Well, dawg, it's true. There are many people who have never developed the POWER of reason. It is a power, and a very formidable one at that. When you HAVE the power to reason, then you are enabled to overturn the narrow minded dictates of any one thought.
Back in the 80's we were told by the wts that there were in fact, GRAY areas of thought and teaching. However, if you approached someone on a certain point of teaching, say perhaps, the use of alcohol, they personally may not believe in drinking it at all. Therefore, there would be NO reasoning with him, even in a matter of conscience or of it being a GRAY area. Because they never developed the power of reason, they hence have become and always will be unreasoning. It's not in their learned abilities.
It doesn't matter what they may WANT to believe themselves, they will only Listen to and believe what is told to them is RIGHT! Do you follow me?

hi Im new
by kamen inhi everyone i hve just found this site by accident its a great site.
i havent been to the meetings for years but it was very hard to leave as family pressures are on you.i feel like ive got stronger but it takes alot of time.

I need your help responding to my old JW friends email
by student1 inhello guys, todya i recieved an email from an old friend of mine within the jdubs... he did the usual jdub thing get married really young and as such we lost touch.. he since found me on facebook and has been bugging me about my decision to leave, i talked to him a little but his mind is completely closed and irrational so i was having little success saving him from the cult and as sich i decided to end the call.. by saying "your happy and i'm happy so lets leave it be and aggree to differ" - however he wont let it rest this is his email: any help in responding would be most appreciated!!
ps... how ironic that he should mention george orwell when he lives within a cult that epitomizes the 1984 book!!

Are you asking for "IMPLIED TRUST"? I believe the general consensus is that we need to know more about the matter before we give you our IMPLICIT TRUST. Trust, mind you, is a give and take agreement. Trust needs first to be established on the basis on knowledge and expierence. Give us both and then we'll discuss this Trust issue.
