as a jw, the definition of spirituality is very limited and narrow minded.
but i have realized that i'm a spiritual person even as an agnostic.
watchtower's use of the word is completely wrong, and only used to benefit their own agenda.

it reminds me of the Tao's declaration
"the tao that can be told is not the

does anybody here do any volunteer work?
i mean real volunteer work.
not the jw "knock on doors and annoy people" kind of volunteer work.
unpaid board member of a local chapter of a national advocacy group
for social justice and civil rights for LGBT citizens, as well as being
a volunteer (grunt) at the local cultural center.... spent 3 years
as a moderator on a discussion board for adult survivors of
childhood sexual abuse... local events need volunteers for
prep work and breakdown, so if i can, i do...
i think my mains reasons would be i don't believe they have "truth".
and i refuse to allow them control over me..

just try to figure out how many ways

but generally speaking, i now have a life!
i am three-quarters through the book, the time paradox: the new psychology of time that will change your lifeby philip zimbardo and john boyd.
it is taking longer than usual because i am earnestly applying the exercises as they appear in the book.
which means i have to be ready to change my habits...but enough about me.. zimbardo's argument throughout the book is that a person's time perspective deeply impacts their choices and their ability to be happy.

so, pretty much i no longer care to believe in a god.
but, either because of my 20 years in a jw daze, or because humans just desire this, i miss the community.
so, i went to a unitarian church this morning.
i attended a UU service this past fall
because there was a regional singer
performing and it was like getting to
go to a free concert!
there was a candle ceremony which was
for attendees to share good news and bad,
hopes and dreams, and at the end the person
"leading" that part lit one for people with grief
too deep to share...
there were some readings, some out of the bible
but contained in a one-love-fits-all kind of book,
some readings from other sources, and yeah
kids split off at one point, and afterwards there
was food.... no pressure just people coming
together to share peace
it was nice, not overly anything, including inspiring
but i would do it again if i wanted to drive to the
same town the KH is in, about 15 miles down the road!

do you hear??.... because even if we were
sleeping, our beloved bros on the other side
of the planet were at meetings and in service

now my mom is on facebook and just sent a friend request, ya cant ignore your moms request...lol!.
i will accept her and this will probably be the end to my fade.
security settings... you can specifically block individual posts
from select groups or individuals... making double life adventures
merrier for those on the fade!
