  i was just reading cognacs post and another by a person who was study with witnesses.

  i got to thinking, there are a lot of disillusioned people who are flocking to the web for answers.

  we on this board especially the vets need to have a welcoming commitee waiting for them.. .

  i can relate to the shell shock a forum experiences when a fraud has been perpetrated.... i have been a moderator for a few years on a forum that was devastated by a "pretender" who feigned a terminal illness as well as an "auntie" who posted updates and announced her having succumbed to a lingering illness" and THEN this piece of work had the stones to return 6 months later in a different identity with equally horrific circumstances!! ( it is a forum for adult survivors of childhood s*xual @buse .... and believe me there are horrific and horrifying life stories told, so one more is not automatically suspect)

  it is a thin edge to walk when red flags are raised..... esp when a forum is a refuge for individuals in a vulnerable state..... maybe a welcome area is not a bad idea..... dunno, i am but a n00b...

  i went to memorial 2007, in a different country!! i had told my few extant friends from the hall my intention so as not to be hounded by the local yokels..... i have no plans to go this year

  even tho my hub and older daughter are baptized, no one is acitve or an adherent so there is no reason, now that the genuine new light is shining in my life, to ever go to a hall again....

  without hesitation.... as was said, in order for a precedent of respect for medical decisions, spoken or written,to be established, so that i might have that same respect given to my decisions

  in fact, now that i have shredded my "advanced medical directive" a very good "worldly" friend ( love ya K!) asked me to hold her medical POA.......

  Hall Build Plans and tithing (is this common?)

  my brother called me today and said last night at the meeting there was a talk about building a new hall.

  they went over the 3% interest on the loan and all that jazz.

  then they passed out contracts to individual congregation members.

  i know when the KH where i attended went thru the same process for a remodel to "correct the SICK BUILDING" issues from the crap design provided by the borg in the first place, the understanding was the "suggested sum" ( as in the $22) would be a monthly obligation... and they counted ALL the publishers, like the teenagers and younger who had taken the dip.... so some families had the "suggested obligation" multiplied by 4 or 5!!!

  we were already on the slippery slope of fading so we ignored the paperwork, which yes.... was a form much as described..... not an anonymous slip of paper.... and believe me there was more than one "reminder" to prayerfully consider what part we could play ( or PAY).... part of what soured the hub even further.....

  i wish i could not think its so wrong when everyone i know and love thinks its so right.. i'm so mad... i wish i could run to my husband and tell him how angry i am.

  tell him and my family that i don't ever want to go near a kh again.

  i spent nearly 3 prayerful years begging to believe the borg had not mislead me......

  vocatus atque non vocatus, Deus aderit..... bidden or unbidden god is present....... that was a sticky note i had written to myself when despair loomed large.... and i looked at it every single day when i stood at the bureau and dressed because it was in my sight line intentionally.... and i prayed, begged, bid, invoked, pled, demanded, cajoled, asked god to reveal his nature to me....... and the first bit of the "answer" was to come to understand what he(?) is NOT..... and he is NOT the god of the borg......... i was/am livid!!!.... at their duplicity and my gullibility and that is where i am in this process

  truly yours.... OURS... is a righteous anger...... just be careful how you wield it....

  My Bethel Experience Part 10

  there were guys at bethel, who had great jobs........like don brouex.....he was the receptionist at the 124 desk....checking in and "checking out" ......all the bethel tours and "hot" sisters......on there way through the "home tour"............that my friend, is not a real bethel job.. there were guys at bethel, that had great congergations with maybe only 2-4 bethelities in their halls.

  one hall, midtown had over 80 bethelites there.............. 3 old ladies 4 kids and a dog.

  odds of getting a home cook meal on sunday 0%.

  i am loving these tales of trials in servitude, mate!..... stuff this close to the "holy of holies" reveals what a crock all of it is....

  the merest scratching of the surface shows the borg is just common base metal with a cheap gold plating

  JWs who were actually cool

  we always talk about the crazy j-dub fundy types, but i knew some cool jws (co, do, bethelites, pio) during my time.

  this is kind of a "where are they now" post along with acknowledginig some jws who were cool and down-to-earth.

  as with most "cool" and good people in the borg, most of them are either not jws anymore (burned out) or are not "serving" in responsible positions (funny how that works, isn't it).

  the hub and i used to go out in service on his harley road king.... we kept our book bags in the "trunk" ..... we thought we were cool.....
