i thought i needed some help so i went and signed up for ged classes.

this is mostly for those that were recruited by jws from another christian religion.
i was brought up a rc and converted to wts religion when i was young and naive.
when i switched over to wts i felt some anger towards my former religion but it was nothing compare to what i feel towards wts.
i was "lapsed" as an RC
when i assimilated into the b0rg
so i guess i am just a habitual fader
when it comes to organized religion....
but i DO know what you mean about
the anger at the RC when i thought
the "the truth" had been revealed
to me by the b0rg... actually it was
much more agonizing to separate
from the WTS, much more of a
crisis of faith...
i was in the truth all my life, i pioneered and was deeply involved.
i left because i realised the real truth and i could not live a hypocritical life.
the first year was terrible, i went to the lowest of low.
i had an economics professor whose

i got stopped the day of the london subway bombings
at the border at sault ste marie, MI, me being a US citizen
and my passenger being canadian.....
we were taking the shorter route thru the states
to NW ontario, rather than having to drive around
lake superior, to get her to thunder bay, ontario
and because she had paperwork and forms
GIVEN TO HER BY US FEDERAL EMPLOYEES when
she asked for info about work permits in the US,
the CBP agents detained us for 4 hours, searched
us and the vehicle, actually videotaping the process,
fingerprinted and photographed her, questioned us,
accused us of trying to smuggle her in illegally (hello!
we were AT THE FRIKKIN BORDER CROSSING) and
refused to admit her.... threatened me with arrest
and confiscation of my vehicle... turned us around
and said she couldnt return to the states until she
had jumped thru all their hoops....
canadian LE was so blasé about our forced return
it would have been laughable if my heart hadnt
been trying to beat out of my chest...
it was THE MOST terrifying incident i have ever
experienced with law enforcement...
jehovah's witnesses are supposed to be the best friends you could ever have.
they're supposed to be genuine and loving.. not that you're out of jw friends, what's it like?.
man oh man they run the gamut!!
men, women, gay, straight, high school/college students, octogenarians, musicians, scholars,
mentally ill/mentally challenged, dems/reps, xian/jewish/pagan/indigenous religious, atheist,
drop-outs, entrepeneurs, unemployed, stoners, str8 edge, sacred, profane....
everyone of them has taught me something about humanity... i hope they can say the same of me

the jw's annual report has lots of numbers to consider, but this one is probably the most misquoted and misrepresented by them.. 1, 500, 000, 000 hours in the field (note: that's time in the field, not talking to interested ones).
now, they can write their own rules on how to fill out a field service report.
door to door - 8 hours (480 minutes) using the 'dissed rule' of 10% that's 48 minutes of actual talking in the field per month.
it always amused me about the different
standards floating around the KH...
one old stickler, backwoodsy wife
to a backwoodsy elder told me you
couldnt start your time till YOU knocked
on your first door.... so if you are standing
at the door with HER, and she happens to
actually have a 4 minute convo, your time
STILL has not started....
then there was the pioneering elder who
was trying to get me to aux pioneer and telling
me all the sneaky-ass ways to "start the clock"...
yeah, their figure is about as accurate
as the weight on my driver's license
