heard this from a friend of a friend via an email locally circulating.
are you ready?
take a deep breath.... "the end of this system is just a whisper away..." from a ca talk i think, maybe even from the dc, i can't remember.
great graphic LWT!
that pesky end of this system!
ever approaching, never arriving...
at least not the way the JWs are anticipating....
this has already been discussed but i need to vent.. i just spent the most painful weekend of my life sitting thru this years dc.
what an unbelievably pointless, soulless and demeaning spectacle the assemblies are.
the three days were a blur of monotanous droning and brainwashing.
talk about taking one for the team, eh?
mate, dont do it again if you are so
affected that you turn to extrinsic
methods to cope... ie pharma use
if you truly have to medicate to be there
DO NOT BE THERE!! it isnt worth it!
hope your head and ass have both recovered!
all of us who have any ties to the jws know that they have their own vernacular, their own slang.
sure, there are formal titles that we can't really get away from: pioneer, ministerial servant, elder, ______ overseer, governing body, the (watchtower) society, etc.
but there are plenty of other bits of parlance they use that i can do without.... for example:.
i dont actually object to calling myself apostate
since i am actually, according to the legit definition,
a serial apostate cos the b0rg wasnt the first
beggar to carry me across the stream... the
catholics had me from birth to early 20s....
bad ass apostate in fact and deed!
how about the inclination of one's heart for
cult-speak, and inculcation, and propitiatory,
sacrifice, the frikkin "class" nonsense ... as
well as the "greater" idiocy they tack on to
some of the " class" crap as they continue
to weave their lunatic tapestry of lies and
half-truths.... wankers
did anyone else catch this in the talk at the convention 'are you behaving as kingdom citizen?'.
.
stupid IE9
what i MEANT to post was
what an idiotic statement by the CO...
how many times have we read on this board
about how often individuals FAKED their "time",
turning in fraudulent hours? what a dolt, to
think a publisher time sheet is a true picture
of anyone's dedication to their religion? idiot.....
did anyone else catch this in the talk at the convention 'are you behaving as kingdom citizen?'.
.
minus the jw stuff.
it is pretty easy, even in a small town, to find opportunities
to invest time and effort for various projects or people in need....
i'm a regular volunteer for several large scale fund raising events
including a 10K race across a frozen bay, a scenic bike tour,
spring/winter boutiques-(food prep and serving) and whatever
else the cultural center/museum requires, incl art show set-up
served on a board for a local chapter of a national
LGBT advocacy organization, spent 3 LONG years
as a moderator on a forum for adult survivors of
childhood sexual abuse...
provided emergency shelter on at least 7 occasions
for displaced individuals, usu due to domestic issues....
it just drives me freakin crazy when my wife and.
her friends say things like "well, in this system of things.
we will never be caught up in our work at home.
in my genuiine life, "this system of things"
has been supplanted, superceded, replaced,
voided and relegated to the circular file by
a much more rational idea: "this one sure life"
"this system of thing"s reminds me of my
dead mother's expression "crock of crap"
unless you're still searching for "the truth", are you happy to know this "truth" is not even out there?.
happy, you ask?
immeasurably so
i learned about y'all in the second grade, and fell in love with your beautiful land.. my geography book was filled with pictures of your wheat fields, lakes, rivers, and smiling people.. one of the ancestors, an aunt of hank aaron, used to regale us with wonderful stories of her visits to your country: the cleanliness, the warmth and friendliness of the people, and the lack of overt racial prejudice.. later on, i read about the underground railroad.
my heart swelled with admiration and respect as i found out how your country welcomed fugitive slaves.. my resolve is to visit y'all one of these fine days and see for myself what i've been told.
my little jw daughter and her dad have been there, and they both agree that canada is a land of freedom and opportunity.. to the canucks on this here forum, i salute you, as you only reinforce what i've been told about y'all.
i have sent e-card Canada Day greetings
to some very dear mates in the land to
the north... i have been fortunate enough
to have visited 5 provinces and hope to
have the chance to visit more...
happy canada day
