by onacruse inon a recent thread, i made a bit of fun about outlaw having to eat penguin morning, noon, and night.. as is the way of things, his almost unbelievably super-nasty p/m back to me made me do some research, and lo and behold, i found a plethora of penguin recipes suitable to all but the most sensitive of palates:.

What next?
by jefferywhat inso in the last year two major qfr came out, one on the fds not being any more special than the gc in terms of enlightenment and the second being that 1935 is no longer a "thing".
this was followed up with a change of the generation being the fds.
then numbers go up this year and apparently, alot of the new converts in the fertile lands of mexico are claiming to be of the anointed.

Understanding this is off topic but I can't let this go by without comment -
If you are through with the JWs- why are you here?
Let me speak for myself - I AM THROUGH WITH THE JWs AND HAVE BEEN FOR A LONG, LONG TIME.
Why am I here ?
I came here looking for posts by my brother and I stayed. I stay for a couple of reasons:
Learning why I am the way I am - being force fed the doctorine since birth - now I understand why I am so quick to get turned off when ANYONE tries to conrol me - I didn't realise that this and many other traits of mine are shared with others that were raised in the "truth".
and I am here because maybe I can share some insight to others - being a 3rd generation witless, having been a teenager in 1975 when Armegeddon WAS coming (no matter how they lie about it now - they DID say it was coming in the fall of 1975) and knowing for sure and certain I was going to die, having successfully faded and remained on speaking terms with many of my relatives, maybe, just maybe I can help someone else.

Troubling past few weeks...
by bluesbreaker59 ini've been df'd since march of 2007, haven't been to a kingdom hall since memorial, and haven't been to a regular meeting since about nov. 2006. .
my dad's whole side of the family cut me off, my one aunt and my grandma did completely.
my other aunt and my dad are having a harder time with it.

Hard to say since I don't know your dad but I can relay my story....
I wasn't DF - 3rd generation and I walked away. My mom shortly realised that by shunning me she was missing out on her family. She started trying hard to have a relationship with me and my children. Afterall, we are her family.
After 25 years since I told the family that I am no longer a JW, we have a relationship still. She also knows that her only hope to win me back into the faith and get my children into it, is to have a relationship with us. Never a phone call or a visit goes by without some preaching in it, but truthfully, we are ok. And for that, I am grateful.
He is your father and you should do your best to maintain the relationship, if you love him. The worst thing that can happen, is that he turns his back on you, but you already know that is a possibility. So, what do you have to lose? By not giving him the chance, you may lose a lifetime of your father.

Might make the announcement
by 5thGeneration inmay make the dreaded announcement to my super righteous, super loyal parents next week that i'm not going anymore.. problem is, as you all know, they "really" believe that it's tantamount to my killing their grandchildren.
.
pretty tough decision because i think they kind of get the vibe already!

3rd Generation here - I remember the day I told my mother - it was the scariest thing I have ever done in my life. I had been wanting to tell her for a couple of years and everytime I thought about it, it made me sick...literally.
By the time I told her, she, too had a clue. Afterall, I hadn't been going to meetings and to make a long story short, I had a baby out of wedlock (now, that was a scary conversation, too!) But, after it was all said and done, it was the biggest relief to have it out. The monkey was off my back. I lost 50 pounds of emotional weight I had been carrying around and only wished I had done it sooner. The worst part was over and now 25 years later, we all go about our lives, mom/family still trying to "save" me and having hope of everlasting life on paradise earth with her/them and I just let it go in one ear and out the other and change the subject.......
My thoughts are with you, trust me, the moments leading up to telling them are the worst, it all gets better and better after that. Nothing is as bad as our imagination.

Ya know - I let my mom babysit and I even let her take them to the KH when they got a little older (5 or 6ish) - they hated it - they didn't want to go. If you allow a child a choice, no child would willingly go to the Kingdon Hall and sit through that crap. They would say, MOM WE HATE IT THERE and then I could tell my mom that the kids didn't want to go and I wasn't going to force them.
Actually, allowing my children to have the freedom to spend time with grandma, and get to come home and talk about it with me, actually kept them from ever wanting to get involved with the cult when they got older.

Wow! A new baby! I am so happy for you.
Like many have said, it depends on the people. My mom is a JW in EVERY sense of the word.I was born into the cult, 3rd generation, I came to her, scared to death, to tell her I was pregnant, out of wedlock, when I was 20.
She amazed me. She was more loving and supportive than I could imagine. She did tell me that she wanted me to get married to the father for the sake of the baby. Which we did, but not for 4 years later. She was kind to my future husband. She was wonderful to my baby.
My 4 children are now all grown and she has never stopped trying to teach them the Bible, but they have all rejected it. Most of my kids don't even stop in to see her because they don't like the preaching. The father of my kids made it clear to her when she first invited him to the Kingdom Hall that he was not going and never would. She never asked him again. He also, put his foot down hard when she wanted to start Bible studies with the kids. He did it, so I wouldn't need to have those fights, she seemed to respect him more than me.
He has been out for a couple of years, they know he is drifting away. They might not be all that surprised. Afterall, JWs understand the temptations out there in the world.
I don't know what they will do, honey but I can tell you this - the hardest part is the days leading up to telling them. Just do it and get it out of the way. Personally, I think he should go by himself to tell him, just in case they go nutz. You really don't need to go through that, but that is your decision. If you think you can handle it, go with him for support.

"They (WT) took me out of context", Gail Bethea-Jackson video
by Fatfreek inthis is too important to bury within an old thread.
that thread hashed over several items of interest which you may want to read by way of a refresher: .
is gail bethea-jackson truly a doctor as the watchtower site claims?

Thank you, Len for exposing this lie.
Not that I am shocked by the response. Sadly, I knew from the moment I read about her video, there was a rat in the woodpile.
The lenghts they are going through to cover their asses with their cult members is stupifying. What is more stupid is that people believe it.

When I lived in the US, I used it extensively in my business, Transfered thousands of dollars - never a hitch, the paypal debit card was fabulous and they transfered funds to my checking account in 3 days - ALWAYS.
Last I checked they were still not transfering funds to Mexico so I had to stop using it, which greatly pains me. I should check again or check into another service, as I LOVED IT and it made it possible and safe to do business everywhere.
