  yeah, how can they get rid of time slips? i mean one of the favorite things to do is engage in self masterbatory articles about growth and how many billion hours were spent, etc. i know that they try to distance themselves from the rank and file, elders, etc, but its too late. its just not possible. the other thing i think, this is a cult, so no matter what happens its not going to be an easing up of any kind of the rank and file. i think perhaps they will do away with judicial comitees and just make it that if you get into trouble you are gone, and to balance it out make the re-instatement process shorter and easier. also they are stubborn, i think there is no chance they do away with the 2 witness rule, i think they will hold on to that until they are broke, which is what their demise could be.

  if watchtower gets rid of DFing/shunning, they will suffer the biggest mass exodus of its entire history. while minor adjustments are possible, there is no way you can run a cult without shunning. now, as the posters pointed out, perhaps they dont think about it like that and think people will just stay. and that would be hilarious to see them make the mistake of getting rid of DFing, and watch people exit in mass ammounts. i mean, what would they lose off the bat? 30%? lol

  I have a horrible feeling they will be introducing some kind of new procedure whereby inactive ones are automatically disassociated if they fail to report within a certain period.

  this. i agree, and if they dont do it at this elders school, they will do it soon. they must do this to stop the bleeding, i dont think there is any way this doesnt happen at some point.

  i get what hes saying but it is a horribly laughable anology. and i love this "what fool would turn his back on that?", my question is "what fool would take that as proof that any of us will live forever?"

  Lets see, we have a 100% death rate over how many years? 200,000? hell i'll concede the ridiculus 6,000. there is not 1 person out of the BILLIONS of humans that have walked the earth that has not died. But wait, throw that out the window cause the steel ball means that we will live forever.

  the watchtower would be better off if they changed their docterine to people who die faithful will live forever, while thats highly likely not possible, none of us have died so we dont know whats on the other side.

  but its just ludicrus in 2012 to be telling people that they will not die. you mine as well start telling them that if they pray hard enough they will start flying like peter pan.

  My Family Study

  as i have posted before i am working to help get my wife out of the jws so we can leave together.

  i have been trying to think of ways to open her mind and get her to think critically and use her mind.

  i dont want to bring lots of facts and reasoning to her attention if her mind is not yet ready for it.

  if the convention closes her mind, it might be best to lay off for a while. this convention is absolutly crazy, so you may get your wish that some flags go off.

  first off, i can happily say that this year i did not attend a single day at this years district convention.. on saturday during the convention, my wife asked me to drop her off after lunch and later pick her up when the convention was over.

  while i was dropping her off, i noticed a single individual holding picket signs protesting the convention.

  it said things like, "was the ransom sacrifice worth it?

  the yelling and extreme stuff doesnt work, imo. but i do think well thought out signs with easy to read website names could work for some. i remember a few times i read flyers as a jw, and they were so full of jesus freak stuff i just laughed. had they been about the pedophile scandal, i would of checked that out.

  I was wondering if an effective way to protest would be to get a group together, have them wear masks to hide their identity, and have signs that say something to the effect of being active JW's for child abuse policy reform. Or elders/pioneers for child abuse policy reform. Signs about the conscience class, etc. I think thats something I would have been taken aback by if I was still in. I viewed the jesus protesters and apostates bringing up russel as nut jobs. But a group of people claiming to be current members in good standing who are hiding their face because to ask for reform brings DFing could possibly work for some.
